David Weiss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 29, 2025.
David Weiss, age 76, passed away on May 21, 2025, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on April 17, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, David lived a life marked by dedication to his work, quiet determination, and a warm sense of humor that touched those around him.

Dave built a long and respected career in building maintenance. He worked for many years as a property maintenance technician with Founders 3 Management and served as Chief Operations Manager for the Grand Avenue. His commitment to keeping things running smoothly was evident in every project he undertook. Whether managing large-scale operations or handling day-to-day tasks, Dave approached his work with care and precision. He was known for keeping everything on schedule and ensuring that no detail went overlooked.

Outside of work, Dave found joy in simple pleasures. He loved fishing and watching football-pastimes that brought him peace and excitement in equal measure. But perhaps what most defined him was his caring nature and willingness to help anyone if he could. He lived quietly but was always busy-doing or managing projects with tireless energy.

Dave had a unique sense of humor that brought lightness to everyday routines. Even the family cats were part of his carefully managed world; he orchestrated their treat time with precision and playfulness, lining them up to ensure each received their fair share.

He shared his life with his beloved life partner, Cynthia L. Weiss-who stood by him through the years. Dave also leaves behind his children: Wendy, Kevin, April, Andrea, Jennifer, and Danielle; his brother Gerald (Sandy) Weiss; sisters Janice (Tom) Ignasak and Audrey (Patrick) Thomas; as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will carry forward memories of his kindness and strength.

He is preceded in death by his father George (Rose) Weiss; mother Mary Ryczanowski; sister Evelyn LaDuke; son Christopher; and daughter Carolyn.

Dave's legacy is one of hard work, quiet generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he cared about. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.

Dave came into my life when I was almost 5. He told me "if anyone asks, I'm your big brother!" He knew I always wanted a big brother. I was lucky though, I got 2, Dave and Jerry. As I grew up, I spent more time with Dave and his first wife Carol along with the 4 kids. He taught me to NEVER rely on a man to do anything and to be self sufficient. He taught me how to change the oil in my car, change a tire and to work hard and be able to support myself.

If anyone had a problem, he was the psychiatrist of the family. So knowledgeable. I can't tell you how many times he scared my boyfriends away. He used to tell me to keep an aspirin with me on a date and if the boy was getting "fresh" with me to put that aspirin between my knees. I asked why, that sounded pretty stupid. He said it was for birth control and then we laughed.

One time someone form the bar across from our house, someone threw a cue ball through my window on my car. He and Jerry wiped my tears and put a new window in my car in the under ground parking garage where Jerry lived.

Unfortunately, I stopped seeing my brother because of another family member causing ruckus and I didn't want to be involved. Dave will always be my BIG brother!!! Love you buddy and I am blessed to have so many memories of you!!!
