He was also the beloved husband of Monica (nee Price) Wells, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage. He was educated in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia School System where he loved and played football. After graduating he began working at PECO where he had a long standing career and remained there for 40 years until his retirement in 2013. One of the joys of David's life was listening to smooth jazz. He was a frequent traveler of jazz festivals following his favorite artists. In his downtime on nights and weekends he loved watching movies. Affectionately known as Uncle Dave, David was a family man with a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews.  He was known as Big Dave by friends and family. David's celebration of life will be remembered by his loving and devoted wife Monica, daughters; Davida Garrett, Patrice Williams and  Monica Wells, son, Dawud Johnson, his daughter-in-law; Salina Johnson, grandchildren; David, Tashia, Dannette, Gregory, Kiara, Jasmine, Celeste, Gianna, Ava, and Antonio, great grandchildren; Alayah, Khalif and Chase, siblings; Amina Hill, Oscar Williams III, Mario Williams, and Dr. Emily Williams; a host of nieces and nephews and Carol Edwards who held a very special place in his heart, as well as many cousins, friends and family.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Theodore Williams. Acknowledgement The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation for your prayers, visits and cards. Every Christmas I would make Rice Krispies Treats for cousin David. We would laugh about our addiction to them. I had to get them to him before I ate them all myself. As I continue to make them each year I will eat a few extras just for you cousin Dave. Love you.

David was one of my favorite cousin. The last time I saw David was in waterbury at my cousin Fred's funeral. David I didn't see you often but, when we got together we had a lot of fun. Memories when you use to visit Waterbury with aunt Annie. Always have a place for you in my heart. Your cousin Jinnie. R.I.P.

Dave worked with me at Conowingo and he always had a ready smile and willingness to listen. He was very much missed when he retired. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I wish to express my deepest sympathy to the friends and family of a man I only knew briefly but went right into my heart as a caring, generous kind hearted soul. The lost of Dave is a lost for humanity. Men like Dave Wells don't grow on trees. I will miss his laughter. Sorrowfully submitted David Dale.

Dave always laughed easily. His robust laugh echoed the walls. You could always count on him to be down to earth and bounce anything troubling you off of him. A go to guy. Sharing jazz info with him was like owning an encyclopedia to the greats. A joy to be around. You will be greatly be missed Dave!

God will definitely show you the way to smiling again. I know this experience will change you forever. I hope in the days to come you can remember all the good times you shared with your father and all the love he gave you throughout the years. He is not gone. I know he will be watching over you forever
