I just learned of Dave's passing as I was planning to attend the 45th Harvard reunion this fall. While I was pre-med at Harvard, Dave sometimes gave me grief for being absorbed in the pre-med craziness. I'm happy to see that Dave enjoyed such a wonderful career as a doctor, while I ended up dropping out of medical school and going into law. Sincere condolences to Dave's family. I knew David at Harvard, freshman year, and was shocked to hear today that he is no longer with us. He died too soon, clearly. However, reading his obituary tells me how high his accomplishments and how broad his understanding. Dave, I bless the memory of our friendship when we were both so much in the bud. Deepest sympathy to AnneMarie and the children. I'll sign myself with a nickname Dave gave me: "Kenmore Arlington Symphony Demsky", BA cl '72.

As I found out today of Dr. Wermer's passing, I would like to extend my deepest sympathy. My daughter Valerie was born at 24 weeks at Seton and was in the NICU for 3 months in 1997. Dr. Wermer was her DR and as a mother facing the unknown of my baby's life, he so warmly took the time to talk to me and explained so patiently the care he and the wonderful nurses would give my baby. We was a wonderful person and Doctor and I know he is the reason my Valerie is with us today 18 yrs old and healthy. May this wonderful Doctor rest in peace.Vivian Rico and family.

Elizabeth and Wermer family, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of David. He was a great man and neonatologist. I had the upmost respect for him and loved working with him as a bedside nurse and nurse practitioner at Seton Main. He was so smart, and I loved his smile. I will pray for you and your entire family during this difficult time.

Although I did not know him personally, his compassion for his work and family were well known. All the best to the family and those still here.

David was a wonderful partner, a great doctor, and one of the best neonatologists with whom I have worked. He was always calm, thoughtful, dedicated and extremely caring. Countless days and nights were spent caring for babies and giving wise counsel to parents. He is the only person I have ever known smart enough to work the New York Times crossword puzzle in pen, correctly, each week without fail. His influence on the Seton NICU was palpable; all the NICU staff loved him greatly. We will all miss him very much.
