David Wesen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 14, 2018.
David Forrest 'Dave' Wesen, age 69, of Townsend, passed away September 10, 2018.
Dave was born in Bozeman, Montana on July 11 of 1949 to Forrest E. and Mary Jo (Gluckert) Wesen, becoming a 5th generation of Montanans. Dave's family lived in Malta, Havre and Helena before returning to Bozeman. He attended 1st through 11th grade in Helena and graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Bozeman in 1967. In the summers during high school, Dave worked on the Wesen Family Farm and Ranch in the Valley County near Glasgow, which was homesteaded by his grandparents.

Dave continued his education at Montana State College until he joined the National Guard and served from 1968 to 1974 as part of the Air Guard Unit.

In 1973 Dave met and married Dona Stein. They had three children together, Steve, Lynda and Forrest. They enjoyed many outdoor activities together such as hunting, fishing and motorbiking. He owned a successful general contracting company, Boone and Crockett Construction, working alongside his brother, Dan Wesen in Gallatin County for 40 years. They primarily built residential homes, but also a number of commercial buildings.

After retiring, he met and married Sally in 2005. They resided in Buffalo, Wyoming for five years before returning to Montana where they purchased land and built a retirement home in Townsend. They enjoyed many outdoor activities along with hobbies such as ranching, woodworking, Utilitarian leatherworking, Sunday night popcorn dates and enjoying the happiest days of their lives.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Sally Ann Wesen; his children, Steve Wesen, Lynda Delph, Forrest Wesen, Neil Strong, and Nadia Kerns; his siblings, Dan Wesen, Mark Wesen, Tom Wesen, and Diane Harn; and his grandchildren, Hunter Wesen, Chase Wesen, Brianna Delph, Savanna Delph, Ava Wesen, Addison Wesen, Orin Kerns, Scarlett Kerns, and Everet Kerns.

Dave was known for his hard work ethic, his servant's heart, his loyalty to family and friends and his devotion to his Christian faith. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. Dave believed "A job worth doing is a job worth doing well."

A Celebration of his Life will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 3 p.m. at the Grace Bible Church, 3625 S 19th Ave., Bozeman, Montana, with coffee and cookies to follow at the church. I didn't know my grandpa too well, but I do know that he sure loved hunting! Dave will be missed and lived always, I am happy to say he is now rejoicing with his Lord eternally now. ,I didn't know my grandpa too well, but I do know that he sure loved hunting!
