David Allen "Scooter" Williams Jr.

I have few words to express the impact that any one life may have on another. My mentor and friend will inherit my path and inhabit my conversations for life.

I had the great pleasure to meet David last Summer for a short time last year, when I spent 10 days in California with Jessica's family, as she married my son Joël 2 years ago.
It was a very enriching experience for me as we visited Sacramento and he shared his insights into the evolution of the American society and about the life of Afro-American people. We had interesting discussions about the unknown African heritage in the western civilization. He was passionate in his research on this kind of subject. I did not imagine then that there would be no more occasion for further discussions
As a teacher myself, I liked his vision for a pedagogy which opens the minds of all and focuses on helping the underprivileged to get a good education.
I am so happy I had this opportunity to share with David, and to see him so happy, taking his grandson Ezra in his arms a month ago... in a clip Jessica sent me.
Good-bye David. You passed away too soon. But you have your place in our memories.
