David Wright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 26 to Mar. 27, 2022.
Wright, David Allen David Allen Wright, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2022, at his home in Grand Rapids. He was born on March 5, 1953 to Troy and Frieda (Christie) Wright in Detroit, MI. On February 11, 1978, David married Kathleen Visser. They spent 44 years together, building a family and making memories. After 36 years of work at American Seating, David retired, though he kept busy. During retirement, he enjoyed tending to his beautiful garden. He and Kathy enjoyed camping at P. J. Hoffmaster State Park. An avid football fan, David loved his Detroit Lions. He was such a die-hard fan that his enthusiasm for the team rubbed off on his family and they became fans too. During the last few years, faith became very central to David's life. He loved the Lord, and wanted to share the faith he felt with everyone around him. He looked forward to Bible studies on Thursdays with his community at Oakhill Church. David was preceded in death by his son, Steven Wright; sister, Mary Oliver; brother-in-law, George (Angie) Visser; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters Michelle Sage and Sarah Wright; grandchildren Kris, Dylan, Tyler, Mark, Marriah, Ezra, and Eden; two great-grandchildren, sisters Carol (Larry) Danielkiewicz of Kalamazoo, MI, Jean (Leonard) Yakuber of Belleville, MI, Ilene (Ron) Atwell of Livonia, MI; brother Eugene Wright of Farmington, MI; brother-in-law John Oliver; sisters-in-law Nancy (Dave) Morrison, Evelyn (Ed) Hazenberg, Julie (Scott) Ellens; and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 29 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Reyers North Valley Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakhill Church (1930 Leonard St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505) with visiting for one hour prior. Entombment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. following the service. "You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart" Jeremiah 29:13
