David York

David W. York, known to those who love him as Pops, Oscar, Coach Pops, or Rocky, passed away at his home in Florida on January 18th, 2023. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many, Dave's humor and genuine kindness endeared him to all he met.

David grew up in Boscawen and Concord, New Hampshire and served four years in the Air Force, living abroad in England during the early 1960s. He worked at Rumford Press and Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield preparing materials for publication and making life-long friends in the process.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Labbe) York, two sons, Jim and Mark York, and their wives, Beth and Tricia, his grandsons Taylor, Matt, and Cody, and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished him. Whether playing horseshoes or golf in Florida, or sitting on the porch at Camp in New Hampshire, Dave brought laughter and joy to all in his company.

David will be fondly remembered standing on the sidelines of athletic fields, in concert halls, at awards nights, magic shows or horseback riding events cheering on those he loved. In the month of November, Dave could be found hunting with his sons in the woods of New Hampshire. He was well known for his funny stories about the circumstances he got himself into on a regular basis and for his ability to laugh at himself and spread that laughter to others.

A celebration of David's life will occur on February 25th, 2023 between 2 and 5 p.m., with a short service at 3:00 p.m., at the Barn at Bull Meadow, 63 Bog Rd. Concord NH. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Concord Little League, 75 South Main Street, Unit 7, PMB 257, Concord, NH 03301.
