David Zoeller Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2024.
It is with great sorrow that we are announcing the passing of our beloved son, David James Zoeller, who died in his home in Nevada on August 28th, 2024, after an illness.

Davd James Zoeller, 42. was born in Louisville on February 15th, 1982 and had resided in Las Vegas for the last 17 years.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Vincent and Betty Zoeller, his maternal grandparents, Douglas and June Jefferson, and his aunt, Pamela Jefferson Fogarty.

David is survived by his parents, Mark Steven Zoeller, Laura Ann Zoeller and his younger brother, Benjamin August Zoeller. He is also survived by his wonderful aunts and uncles: Auntie Lynne Jefferson Haas, Uncle Douglas R. Jefferson, Terry and Suzanne Zoeller, Curt and Charlene Zoeller, Patrick and Sonja Zoeller, Beth and Perry Thacker and Doug Zoeller. David is also survived by many loving cousins.

David was an extremely creative man with tremendous mechanical skills and an insatiable love of cars; from racing to rebuilding various cars starting at a young age. His passion extended to many other hobbies, most recently hydroponic gardening. He was always working on new projects as he saw no task beyond his grasp. He loved animals, and his rescue dog Achilles was his great companion.

David graduated from Trinity High School in 2000. He went on to Speed School and received his Bachelor of Game Design and Digital Entertainment in June 2007 from ITT Tech. He moved to Nevada, in 2008 where he worked as a computer software engineer for numerous companies. The last few years he was working for Sands as a coder and designer.

In Las Vegas this week, we had the privilege of gathering with a group of wonderful friends/co-workers, from Sands who shared their memories of our son including what a generous man David had been with his time and talent.

David was tenacious in enduring his diabetes and many back surgeries over the years without complaint. We will forever cherish great memories of our amazing son.

A memorial for David will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada in a few weeks.

Visitation in Louisville will be held at the home of his parents, Mark and Laura Zoeller, Sunday, September 15th, from 2:00 to 5:00pm. 5849 Brittany Woods Circle.

The family welcomes donations to the American Diabetes Association as an expression of sympathy.

Zoeller was a great friend and a smart, principled co-worker. I will miss him very much. For a decade we worked together as engineers and never ran out of cars or video games to talk about.

I've known David since 2012. A bit teary eyed reading this right now. I worked a desk over from him for several years, often going out for lunch and dinner together. David even attended my wedding celebrations. He was a very sincere, honest, kind person. I wish I had gotten down to Vegas to spend more time in person with him again.
