There are some people in all of our lives who consistently bring positive energy and lively conversation. Dave was such a person for us. He was smart; he was well informed; he was sincere; he was substantive; he was caring. In the spheres of influence in which he operated, he was always aware of what was going on and diligently worked to improve it. In his quiet dignified way, he brought wisdom to darkness and spoke truth to power, while at the same time being a true friend and a good listener. If there ever was a time that we need more smart, informed, sincere, substantive, and caring, this is it. We will miss Dave for all those things.

Caitlin and Michael, Sue and I are very sad at the loss of your father and our long time friend. Please know that in most conversations with Dave, you two were featured with much pride and love.

He was my friend and political colleague and a man who I admired for his honesty, decency, and, of course, Democratic politics. I will miss him.
