Once a travel agent and a business owner, Dawn bloomed in service to others, especially with the elderly. She achieved a personal goal by earning the credential of Licensed Practical Nurse while in her 40s. Specializing in various aspects of geriatric living and care, her practice spanned two decades. From her youth until her death, Dawn was tireless in the pursuit of betterment for family, neighbor, and friend, believing one and all to be both capable of success and deserving of assistance.

Dawn is survived by husband Paul, son Victor Hopson, daughter Veena Hopson with three grandsons: Revi, Ben, & Sean Paul Smith, nephew Shaheed (Glenda) Sheikh, daughter-in-law Jennifer Ward with granddaughter Zuzu Hopson, brother-in-law Michael Hopson, her sister Jennifer (Vijay) Naidu in India and cousins in the US and abroad.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents and aunties in India, her mother-in-law Margaret Hopson, her brother Fredrick Miller, and her beloved son Vinod Hopson.

Keeping with Dawn's wish, her earthly body has been bequeathed to University of Texas Medical School for the advancement of medical education. My deepest condolences to the Hopson family, a beautiful Soul will be greatly missed. MaDawn has truly been like a Mother to me since I met her when I first moved to Houston in 2000. She and her family welcomed me to their home with open arms. I'm one of the Many beneficiaries of her loving, kind, thoughtful, caring and very generous spirit. She always remembered and celebrated her family's, friend's milestones, checked on neighbors and was such an amazing cook, which I very much enjoyed! I've learned so much about Indian culture, many life lessons, and shared invaluable life experiences with MaDawn and her family. I'm truly grateful our paths crossed on this life journey

I loved you very much as a friend and the best caregiver for my parents who lived at The Breakers in Long Beach. I missed you when you moved away to TX. We had great lunches and lots of laughed. Be at peace sweet friend!

To my dearest mom,
I'll miss you, as I miss you now. Thank you for being my mom and my friend. Thank you for protecting me, standing up for me, teaching me, and guiding me. Thank your for all those laughter's we had and going through every up and down in my life with me. A part of me has died with you but the greater part of me lives because of you. What a special gift God gave me as you being my mom. I am so appreciative of every moment that I got to spend with you as our mom. Thank you for representing God's love and grace, thank you for helping so many people in this walk of life. Strangers and friends, there has been so many that have been touched by your love and compassion. The mark of living a good life, a fruitful one, is the loving memories and the kind words of those you leave behind. You didn't make this life you lived just about you, you made it about everyone around you.

I know you are in heaven now, you're with your mom and my brother. You are God's angel in heaven, as you were for us here. Rest your mind and body in peace. There will never be a goodbye for us, just a see you later. All my loving to you.
Victor
