Dawn Kirtley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 4, 2023.
Dawn Lachelle Kirtley, age 58, bid farewell on November 26, 2023, in Loveland, CO. Born on February 10, 1965, in Greeley, CO, Dawn's life was a testament to love, devotion, and cherished moments.

Dawn had an infectious personality that could brighten even the gloomiest of days. With her quick wit and a heart full of jokes, she brought endless smiles to those around her. Her most precious role in life was being the mother to her son Cameron. She always told him "Love you more!",he was the light of her life.

She possessed a vibrant personality that touched the lives of all who knew her. Dawn's great sense of humor brought joy to those around her and created lasting memories. She enjoyed attending concerts and embarking on memorable journeys, with Costa Rica holding a special place in her heart. Dawn's spirited nature extended to her love for bingo, where she fearlessly played with 20 cards, always seeking the thrill of victory!

Gardening was not just a hobby for Dawn, but a true passion. She took immense pride in growing her own home-grown tomatoes. Yet, her nurturing nature couldn't be contained by plants alone. Dawn had an undeniable magnetic pull towards babies. It didn't matter who they belonged to; she longed to cuddle them all, becoming an of honorary Aunt to many. She loved getting to volunteer at Cameron's school when he was younger and spending time with him there brought her great pride. Halloween was a favorite holiday, where she would dress up and immerse herself in the festivities. When it came to food, she loved guacamole tostadas, green chili(both served with her beloved home grown tomatoes) and peach cobbler. She loved to experiment with different recipes for each.

Dawn was a huge Colorado Avalanche fan and supported them through their losses and victories. She was so excited when they clinched the Stanley Cup-all three times!!! Family meant everything to Dawn, and she treasured the time spent together during various holidays, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter.

Left to honor Dawn's memory are her beloved son, Cameron Curtis, along with her significant other, Greg Curtis, and his mother, Geri Hergenreter and his children Connor and Lauren. She will be dearly missed by her mother, Mary Lynn Kirtley, her sisters, Christin Marine (Stephen) and Dee Ann Zylstra (Shawn). As well as her nephews Kyle (Cherish), Charlie and Brady along with her her great nephew Jaxon and great niece Parker. Additionally, she is remembered by her Aunt Annie Carstens (Jim) and Uncle Don Kirtley. Dawn also leaves behind countless cousins and cherished friends who will miss her dearly.

Dawn was preceded in death by her loving father, Jim Kirtley, and her grandparents, Charles Jones, Nadine Jones, and Mary Louise Kirtley.

Dawn attended Thompson Valley High School and graduated in 1983. Throughout her career, Dawn showcased her talents in various fields. She dedicated numerous years at Hewlett Packard. Her skills were versatile, as she also worked with LPR Construction and Loveland Auto Auction. Dawn's entrepreneurial spirit led her to work as an independent contractor for several organizations.

In her younger years, Dawn embraced the joy of roller skating, excelled in softball, volleyball, and water skiing. She was very creative and enjoyed arts and crafts, immersing herself in basket-making, tatting, crocheting, and crafting heartfelt gifts for her loved ones.

Let's not say our goodbyes just yet! A memorial service to celebrate Dawn's vibrant life will be held in the summer of 2024 - a joyous occasion where laughter and fond memories will be shared just the way Dawn would have wanted it.

I remember growing up and going to school with Dawn. She was my neighbor growing up. Dawn was always cheerful and always made me laugh. She was a wonderful friend. My condolences to the family. Rest peacefully Dawn. You will be sorely missed.
