I was looking on FB to reconnect with Dean and then sadly just learned that he passed. "Dupe" was my first roommate when I moved out of my family's home. Fond memories of living in the repurposed Olympic Media Village. So sorry to his family and close friends who had to say goodbye to him way too early. Laura.

To Dean's family,
I'm so completely sorry for your loss. I have only found memories of Dean growing up, and spending half my time at his home with my bestie Denise. God Bless you all at this time and always.
Love, Janeen

To the Duprey family,
My heartfelt condolences for the tragic passing of Dean.
I had the pleasure and privilege of working with Dean at PING Canada. He was my room mate during my first Phoenix sales meeting and taught me many valuable lessons. I could not help but admire his passion for life, laughter and friendship.
He was a good friend and coworker and will be missed.
May all the great memories, and laughter you shared with Dean keep you strong in this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Andre Borys

Dear Donna, Dale and Family,
I have just heard from Millie Braun about the sudden passing of Dean. Please accept my sincere condolences for your tragic loss. It is so sad that you, too, have joined the club that no one wants to belong to....the loss of a child. May the passage of time ease your loss and help you to focus on the blessings Dean brought to you.

I knew Dean as a teenager and as a young man. I share the memory of the smile - which was a touch mischievous in my mind - the kindness and, yes, the brattiness! I also remember someone who was inexplicably easy to be around. Weeks, months or years went by and then paths would cross and it seemed as if no time had passed. Even though for years and years the contact between us has basically consisted of me badgering Trent about him each time we ran into each other, I always thought there would be another time.
Trent. I am so sorry. For you, your parents, your family. I hope that by sharing our memories and affections for Dean that the warmth of our stories and our smiles will bring moments of lightness to combat the incomparable grief that comes from losing someone you love.
And Dean. I suppose that our next meeting now has to be on some other plane of existence. It will probably only be awkward for a moment before it will seem again, like no time has passed. Until then, rest easy. I will miss you still.

Dear Dale, Donna and family,
We send our sincere condolences on the passing of your son. Such sudden passings do not give you any time to prepare nor accept and you must feel stunned at this time. We will be unable to attend your gathering as Jack has been in Rockyview hospital for a month and is not up to going out yet. We will talk later hopefully. May God bless your and support you at this very challenging time!
With love,
Jack and Isobel Montgomery

Donna, Dale & Trent:
We join your family and many friends in extending our sincere condolences on the sudden passing of Dean. We remember the Duprey street was a magnet for our area of Varsity Village with Dean being the organizer of many of the activities - especially the road hockey games. We with sons/daughters who are Dean's age realize how fortunate we are but in the future we hope all the memories gathered over his life will lighten the sadness of his passing.

Dean always had a ready grin and a kind word. I have fond memories of his friendship at Churchill and in more recent years reconnecting through the wonders of reunions and Facebook.
Such heartache for the loss of such a wonderful man. My thoughts are with the Duprey family and those Dean's kind soul touched with his friendship.
Sincerely,

I will always remember Dean from the neighbourhood growing up. There was this big group of us kids and Dean was my brother Cary's best friend. Those two would chase me, torment me (tickle army until I couldn't breathe!);capture me & hold me as a "prisoner of war" at the utility box until I could either escape, or convince them I was a MASH nurse. Early every morning of summer and weekends, us kids would over-run the cul-de-sacs making up our little piece of the world. I remember us all piling into Mr Dickerson's van and driving out to Cochrane for ice cream (felt like a big trip in those days), and street hockey on Varsplain Pl, tobogganing down the big hill at Jerry Potts, and so much more.
As we've grown up we've gone our own ways but I can remember those times as if it was yesterday.
Thinking of Dean is what has brought these memories back to me.
A simpler time, when kids could be kids, where we were outside from dawn to dusk (and often later), where the parents all knew each other, and there wasn't a lot of worry about our safety because of the "community" we built in our few little streets.
I am so sorry for your loss Mr & Mrs Duprey and Trent. It was far too soon for Dean to leave you.
I am also thankful to Dean, during this sad time, for returning these memories to me.
Rest in Peace and may you be blessed in whatever the next journey holds for you Dup.
