Dean Kordic Obituary
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the tragic, sudden passing of Dean Ivan Kordic on August 19th, 2018 at 9:20 p.m. at the age of 14. Dean is survived by: his parents Zizi and Zeljko; sister Emma; grandparents Barbara and Ivan; uncles Zdenko, Goran and Josip with their families; with aunts Ana and Katarina with their families. Our beloved Dean will forever remain in the hearts and memories of his family and friends from all over Canada and Croatia.
Friends and family will be gathering for his funeral service on Friday, August 24th at 6 p.m. at the Church of Assumption in Trebizat, Hercegovina.

Dean, it's been exactly a month today. I have no idea what any of us are supposed to do without you, but I know you're looking down on me and smiling. I just hope you're happy. I remember when I came to your house and we went to the park and I stepped in the mud and got my new Adidas all dirty and you guys laughed at me freaking out. I remember when you guys tried to teach me to skateboard, and then the time I stole your skateboard and I'd never seen you run faster in my life. Or at Easter when Emma found the chocolate in the couch and you wrestled her for it and made her watch you eat it. But most importantly I remember around this time last year we were at Johny and Sylvia's birthday party and I was having a really bad day. Nobody liked me and I was on the verge of a mental breakdown and I still replay what you said to me that day. "I don't have very many friends at school, I'm not popular, and look at me! I'm perfectly fine, I'm happy." I love you Dean, I miss you. You will always be my older cousin. I know I always wanted to be in charge, but not without you.

Thinking of, and praying for the Kordic family. When I think of
Dean, I remember his happy nature and sense of humour... He was so appreciated by his teachers and peers. He put a smile on many faces on a daily basis! "I love Dean" were words I heard expressed by both his classmates and teachers. Dean was one of my son Damian's St. James crew members. One of 5 boys that would gather here a couple times a year on a Friday night and marathon game, listen to music, run around the house warring with nerf guns and devour Cool Ranch Doritos until Sunday. He was always smiling, always pushing the guys to step away from the controllers and do something crazy. He was one of a kind and we are both in shock and grieving at this loss. I taught Dean in my very first year at Queen of Heaven. He was in grade 2. Such a sweet, kind and gentle boy. During our preparation for our Spring Showcase (we did a dance routine for Stevie Wonders song Sir Duke), Dean really tote it up with moves! I started calling him Dean, Dean, the Dancing Machine). Its a name that stuck - as he moved to another school, and would visit from time to time, I would still bring up his nick name whenever I saw him! Rest In Peace sweetheart, and dance away!!!!
