Debbie Dreckman, 70, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.


Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2023, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars.  Father Bruce Lawler will celebrate Mass with Deacon Paul Gengler assisting.  Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Le Mars.  Visitation with the family present will be begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at All Saints Catholic Parish – St. Joseph Church in Le Mars.  There will be Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Scriptural Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the church.  Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars.  Expressions of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com


Deborah Mary Dreckman, the daughter of Dale and Delphine (Geister) Sitzman, was born May 28, 1952 in Le Mars, Iowa.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars.  She attended school in Le Mars and graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1970.  Following high school, she attended beauty school and graduated from the Le Mars Beauty College.  She worked for the Mantrap in Le Mars for a couple of years. 


She was united in marriage to Michael “Sod” Dreckman on October 1, 1977, at St. James Catholic Church in Le Mars.  To this union, a son, Nick was born.  They later divorced but remained best friends. 


Following her time at the Mantrap, she went to work for Centel Communications in Le Mars and was there for over 20 years.  She later worked a short time for BT Trucking in Le Mars before going work for Wells Dairy in Le Mars.  She worked in the accounting department until her retirement in 2017.  Following her retirement, she worked parttime at “The Bar” in Le Mars. 


She was a member of All Saints Catholic Parish in Le Mars and the Santa Maria #179 Chapter of Catholic Daughters of the America in Le Mars.  She loved watching sports and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the Dallas Cowboys.  She also enjoyed playing cards and trying her luck at the Casino!  She also liked to play golf.  Christmas was one of her favorite times of the years, she loved getting gifts for her family.


Survivors include her son, Nick (Amanda) Dreckman of Mankato, MN; her siblings: Greg Sitzman of Louisville, KY, Julia Olguin of Le Mars, IA, and Paula (Steve) Cronin of Le Mars, IA; her in laws: Patti Sitzman of Winston Salem, NC, Donna Heagel of Joyce, IA, Charlene Rowen of Le Mars, IA, Jerome (Eileen) Dreckman of Le Mars, IA, Marlis (Wayne) Thieman of Le Mars, Joel (Pat) Halter of Le Mars, IA, Mary Kay (Dick) Halter of Le Mars, IA, Lisa (Bob) Puetz of Le Mars, IA, and Donna Dreckman of Alton, IA; a close friend, Dave Caldwell of Le Mars, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Delphine Sitzman; her best friend, Michael “Sod” Dreckman; two brothers, Phil Sitzman and Nick Sitzman; her in laws, David Dreckman, Donnie Rowen, Karen (Dick) Gaffey, and Lee Oordt; and a nephew, Jason Puetz.
