Deborah McKay Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 11 to Oct. 12, 2019.
Deborah L. McKay, 48, of Wallingford, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at Smilow Cancer Hospital.

She was born in Meriden, June 13, 1971, a daughter of William and Angela (Perrone) Levine of Wallingford.

She had been employed by Comprehensive Orthopedics in Wallingford and was an active member of Wallingford Elks Lodge #1365.

She was loved by so many people and made friends so easily. From going through 14 years of dance recitals with her daughter, to being a committed member to the Wallingford Elks Lodge, Deb was loved. She was the most kind, loving, and joyful person out there.

Over the last 10 years Deb has been battling stage 4 breast cancer. She was resilient and did not let that control her life. She lived a full happy life and was so strong. Her family and friends supported her every step of the way, they never left her side. Through the hard times, Deb was always a ray of sunshine. She smiled and laughed. She enjoyed long walks on the beach and keeping a positive attitude.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her loving daughter, Stephanie McKay; her brother Bill Levine; and her best friend, D.J. Nadeau.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Tuesday, October 15th, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Interment will be private. On October 26th a Celebration of Life will be hosted at the Wallingford Elk's Hall. Please contact her daughter Stephanie, DJ Nadeau or any Wallingford Elks Member for tickets.

Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Sisters' Project, P.O. Box 1643, Wallingford, CT 06492. www.wallingfordfh.com

Adrianna and I are deeply saddened by the news we received yesterday. We knew Deb over a short period of time in Florida / Connecticut. Deb was always respectful and kind. We know her daughter will stay strong and we keep her and the rest of the family in our deepest thoughts and prayers.

Deb and I knew each other only for a short time but we grew to be great friends. She was the strongest, bravest woman I ever met. I will cherish the time I spent with her. May Deb's memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

Deb has been our friend for about 15 years. Deb always put the needs of others above her own. Her warmth and caring could lighten the sky on a rainy day. Personally I enjoyed drinking wine, catching up and making jewelry with Deb. Rich and Deb had a very special bond that will never be broken. We will miss her dearly but can only hope that she is somewhere else sharing her strength and compassion. To Stephanie - we love you and please remember that we are always there for you. Love, Amy and Rich

Dear Angie and Bill,

I am so sorry and sad to to hear about your beloved daughter. I can remember always looking up to Debbie as she was known back then while we were all growing up on Summit Drive. She and Diane used to tolerate us little kids on the block and I can remember thinking how much older and sophisticated these girls were...it looks like she grew into an even more sophisticated and beautiful person as time went on. Sending prayers to you and hoping you find peace during this time. ❤

Stephanie, you are an amazing woman just like your mom and she was so proud of you. I'm sorry for your loss and for your family's loss. Your mom was one of a kind! We enjoyed so many moments at Jupiter Medical center and I wouldn't change it for the world.
Deb you are one strong chick! I've never seen anyone fight the fight that you did. From laughs in the reading room, to giving my girls gummy bears from your stash, to doing chest x-rays after procedures, to holding your hand for hours in the ER. You are missed my friend, RIP my friend.

Stephanie, My heart broke when I heard the news of your Moms passing. Her smile lights up a room and she is one of the most genuine & sweet people I know. She was a strong and beautiful woman inside and out and you inherited that from her. Deb would glow with pride every time she spoke of you. I know how very close you were and I cant imagine your pain right now but I pray you find your mothers strength inside of you and feel the comfort of her spirit in these difficult times. May the happy memories you share bring you peace as you reflect on how blessed you are to be her daughter with the warmth of her motherly love, friendship and kindhearted spirit that will always be a part of you. You & your family are in our hearts & prayers, she will be missed. With my deepest condolences. XoXo Krystyn & Family
