Deborah MOORE Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Apr. 2, 2016.
MOORE, Dr. Deborah
1964 – 2016
The exceptional Dr. Deborah Moore lost her battle with cancer at the Ottawa Hospital – General Campus on March 22, 2016, at the age of 51. She was the most beloved daughter of Florence and the late Ralph Moore, dear sister of April (Brad Propp), Stephen (Anne Tierney) and Flo (Scott Wilson). Deborah will also be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Jasmine, Meghan, Raven, Ryan, Hannah, and Adam. Deborah decided at age 37 to pursue her dream of studying and working with Chimpanzees. She did her field work in Tanzania and then did her PhD lab work at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzig, Germany. She then did her doctoral research in the Congo studying the bonobos of Kokolopori, and graduated in 2013 from the University of Texas in San Antonio. Her loss will be deeply felt by her many colleagues and friends around the world. The family would like to thank the very caring staff at the 5 East Wing of the General Hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the
Capital Funeral Home
3700 Prince of Wales Drive
613-692-1211
For those who wish, contributions in her memory may be directed to the Jane Goodall Institute of Canada.

Mrs. Moore, April, Steve, Flo and Families, My thoughts and prayers are with you all and words could never express how heartbroken I am for you. I hope in the days ahead you can take comfort in the knowledge that Debbie is loved by so many people around the world and that she got to live her dream. Hold the many fond memories of your time shared with her close to your hearts and they will sustain you. Debbie will forever be in my heart, and I will never forget all the wonderful times we had growing up in Lakeview. Although we lost contact over the years and did not get to see each other very much I have always considered Debbie as a sister and cherished friend. May God hold her in the palm of his hand until we meet again. Love you Deb.
God Bless,
Mel

I cannot express how sad I feel for you, Florence, and the family. She was a special young lady who accomplished so much in her short life. There is another angel in heaven who is looking down on you. She is with her Dad now. I am sure he was missing his family as well.
