I can honestly say that I hit the jackpot when it came to the in-law department. Deb treated me like her own daughter, and the love I felt from her was more than I could ever hope for. Here are some that come to mind as I think of Deb.
SPUNKY, BRAVE, FIERCE, AN INSPIRATION
Deb was not one to give up easily once she made up her mind. She gave cancer a good fight. She was strong as she faced things that none of us could even imagine. She always had a sparkle in her eye and a smile on her face through it all.
HONEST, OPINIONATED, DETERMINED, LOYAL
Deb would do anything for anyone. You could count on her to be there for you. I've heard the story many times about how she delivered her nephew Dallas in the back seat of a car. Not many people could do that! She worked for the state of Nebraska Department of Revenue for 29 years. She was married to Jeff for 46 years. She was a woman who knew what she wanted. She loved her McDonalds Sr. coffee with 4 creams, Coke with light ice, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, Michelob Ultra, the smell of lilacs, popcorn, and chocolate (especially chocolate covered gummy bears).
A SHOULDER, A SUPPORTER, AN ADVICE GIVER, A CHEERLEADER
I knew I could always go to Deb and anything, and she would have my back. She and Jeff have spent countless hours in the stands of volleyball games cheering on their granddaughters, Addi and Lyvi or driving to Colorado to attend on one of their grandson, Owen's birthday parties.
ANIMAL LOVER, QVC WATCHER, BARGAIN SHOPPER, COLLECTOR
Deb could always be found with a dog on her lap watching the special of the day on QVC or planning a shopping trip with one of her friends. She also loved to collect teddy bears. The paper even once did an article boasting about her collection of hundreds of bears. As far as QVC goes, it's still kind of a family joke that we aren't sure what package may show up on the doorstep today. Deb took shopping to a new level. The Younkers clerks knew her by name and adored her. Deb even had a stroller that she took shopping. This stroller was not for the grandkids though. It was strictly for her purchases, coupons, and bags. I'm not going to lie, that stroller did come in handy from time to time. One day, Deb took a tumble trying to get off the escalator at Younkers with her stroller. It may not be a coincidence that shortly after, a sign popped up next to the escalator advising customers to take the elevator with their strollers. I will forever think of Deb when I see this sign or a Younkers coupon.
SUNSHINE, SPARKLY, SHINY, DAZZLING
These words not only represent Deb's bubbly personality, but her love of sparkly things. She loved her jewelry and had quite a collection. She could spend hours shopping for just the right piece to match her outfits or convincing Jeff that a particular piece was just perfect. Deb was always so put together. In fact, she spent most of her working life getting up at 4 AM so that she'd be ready to look her best for whatever the day would bring.
LOVING, A HAND-HOLDER, A HUG-GIVER, A SNUGGLER
Deb gave the best hugs. Even in her last days, I heard her gently saying, Hi, Sweetie. and smiling as we gave her hugs and kisses. She was amazing at being a Grammy too which is what she loved to do best. My son, Owen could convince Grammy to do about anything from bouncing in a bounce house, to having a Nerf gun war, to eating Doritos and ice cream for dinner (or even breakfast), to watching unlimited Sponge Bob episodes. What happens at Grammy's stays at Grammy's, right? But one of Deb's absolute favorite things to do was to have her grandkids on her lap or next to her, snuggling under her fluffy purple blanket. We will all cherish these times.
TINY BUT MIGHTY,A SISTER, A COUSIN, AN AUNT, A FRIEND, A WIFE, A MOTHER, AND A GRAMMY
We won't forget the role that Deb played in all of our lives. She will be missed, but her legend will live on in all our hearts. We love you, Deb. Until we meet again, we hope you are having fun in your purple house in heaven.

I have so many good memories of growing up with Deb. We wandered Belmont on foot and on our bikes. After we become adults with our own families we didn't see each other often but when we did it was as if we had never been apart. She loved showing off pictures of her Grandkids and always showed up with a book full of photos. Know how proud of each and every member and how much she loved you all. Pray that your hearts will heal. Patty (Warne) Garivay
