Debra Homan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 3, 2020.

Mass of Christian Burial for Debra A. Homan, 61, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 a.m.  Saturday, February 8, 2020, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont.  Burial will be held following the service in Calvary Cemetery.  Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the time of service Saturday at the church.  Deb passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at her home on Friday, January 31, 2020.  The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Debra Ann (Kahler) Homan was born on December 1, 1958, in Estherville, IA, to Albert and Mary (Kennedy) Kahler.  She and her four younger brothers grew up on the family farm near Titonka, IA.  Deb loved being a farm girl.  She graduated from Ledyard Highschool in 1977.

In 1980, Deb married Tim Thompson and she was blessed with one daughter, Melissa.  They later divorced.  Deb married Jerry Homan, the love of her life, on May 25, 2002.  They spent their entire life in Fairmont, MN.

Deb worked at 3M for over 35 years until her retirement on September 30, 2019.  She held various positions at 3M in production and most recently was in mold making.  Her husband, Jerry is also employed by 3M.

Deb was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church.  She was a proud grandma of her three grandchildren.  She loved camping and spending time outside but mostly loved spending time with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jerry Homan; daughter, Melissa (Joe) Waller of Armstrong, IA; grandchildren, Madison, Hailey and Johnathon Waller of Armstrong, IA; parents, Albert and Mary Kahler of Bancroft, IA; mother-in-law, Darlene Homan of Mankato, MN; brothers, Mike (special friend, Delta) Kahler of Titonka, IA, Tom (special friend, Janelle) Kahler of Bancroft, IA, and Pat (Amy) Kahler of Lakota, IA; brothers-in-law, Ron (Glenda) Homan of Minneapolis, MN, Larry (Lori) Homan of Stewartville, MN, and Doug (Mary) Homan of Mankato, MN; sisters-in-law, Sue Homan of Fairmont, MN, and Mary (Jerry) Krueger of Kasota, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Deb was preceded in death by all four grandparents; father-in-law, Marvin Homan and a brother, Don Kahler.

I was so sorry to hear of Deb's passing. I have fond memories of time spent with her in high school, especially during cheerleading practice and basketball games. My sympathy to her husband Jerry, her daughter Melissa and the entire Kahler family.
