Debra Ann Velikis (née Roberts), age 70, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born on October 12, 1954, in Kingston, Pennsylvania, Debbie was the cherished daughter of the late Vivian and Nancy (Masonis) Roberts.
A proud graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1972, Debbie was a dedicated honor student and majorette, always marching to the beat of her own joyful rhythm. She was an auxiliary member of the Swoyersville Volunteer Fire Hose Company #1 and devoted many years to working in both secretarial roles and floral design-two areas where her attention to detail and creative heart truly shined.
Debbie held various roles throughout her life, including time at Commonwealth Homecare, Barbara's Custom Floral, and Riverview Urologic Associates. After retiring, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio, in 2020 to live with her daughter and grandchildren-who became the center of her world.
One of Debbie's most treasured gifts was her incredible talent for floral design. With a natural eye for beauty and a loving touch, she created arrangements that weren't just flowers-they were memories. From proms and weddings to baby showers and birthdays, Debbie's designs added elegance, warmth, and a whole lot of love to the lives of those around her. Her floral creations became keepsakes in hearts, symbols of her presence in life's biggest moments.
Debbie's favorite things were simple yet full of joy: the magic of Disney World, a Diet Pepsi, a cozy cat curled on her lap, and the excitement of planning a perfect party-especially if it involved flowers and glitter. She found delight in decorating for birthdays, hosting display-style bridal showers, and making any occasion feel extra special.
Debbie's greatest joy was being "Nana." She adored Eli, Alyssa, and Lucas with all her heart and never missed a chance to spoil them. From surprise treats to over-the-top holiday decorations, she made sure her grandkids always felt special, loved, and endlessly cherished.
She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Vanessa and Eli Phillips Jr.; her beloved grandchildren, Eli, Alyssa, and Lucas Phillips; her sisters, Cindi Taylor, Donna Roberts Boyle, and Nancy Roberts; and many adoring nieces, nephews, and extended family who will deeply miss her generous spirit, big heart, and sparkling personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Nancy Roberts, as well as several cherished feline companions who brought her comfort and companionship through the years.
Debbie will be cremated, and a memorial will be held in Pennsylvania at Lehman & Gregory Funeral Home. A graveside gathering will follow at St. Mary's Annunciation Cemetery in Pringle, PA at a later date. Service details will be shared through the funeral home's website.
Though she has gained her angel wings, Debbie's love continues to bloom in the hearts of everyone she touched. May her memory always be wrapped in petals, light, and love.
