Dee Wolfe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 8, 2024.
Dee Wolfe, born on February 16, 1938, in Walla Walla, WA, passed away on August 6, 2024, in Couer d'Alene, ID, at the age of 86. He was a beloved figure, often referred to as the animal whisperer, known for his kindness that attracted all animals and children alike. Dee's quick wit, sense of humor, infectious smile, and the sparkle in his eyes were legendary among those who knew him. He imparted wisdom through simple yet profound life lessons: work hard, play fair, and treat people with respect. Throughout his life, Dee upheld the virtues of a true gentleman-gracious, light-hearted, and deeply loving towards his family and friends.

Dee graduated from Walla Walla High School and built a notable career with RA Hanson, working on significant dam projects across the United States and internationally. He concluded his professional journey at Bennett Lumber Company. Outside of work, Dee was passionate about the outdoors. He cherished bird hunting with his dogs, camping, and fly fishing-a craft so dear to him that he tied his own flies. His love for the ocean led him to frequent fishing trips with his son Darren. Dee was also an avid reader of Louis L'Amour's works and enjoyed various card games, serving as a dealer and pit boss at Lancer Lanes in Clarkston, WA. His competitive spirit shone through in football team picks with friends and in card games like pinnacle played with family. Dee's enthusiasm for yard sales was evident in the eclectic collection found in his various sheds, barns, and houses. He also relished horseback riding and embarked on numerous backpacking excursions.

Dee is survived by his brother Gary Wolfe and his wife Cindy; children Darren Wolfe and his wife Debbie, Vickey Wilson and her husband George, DeeAnn Stack and her husband Scott, and Ron Wolfe and his wife Karina; grandchildren Lyndsay Lillie and her husband Josh, Brandon Wolfe, Greg Wolfe and his wife Keasha, Aubrey Hogan and her husband Kyle, Lauren Hunt and her husband Seth, Brooklynn Sowell and her husband Wesley, Jessica Walkup, Taylor Wutzke and her husband Jack, Carson Wolfe, Sahara Wolfe, and Kate Wolfe; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Rhys, Mason, Trenton, Ava, Archer, Parker, Brinley, and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Nellie Wolfe.

A celebration of Dee Wolfe's life will be held at the Palouse Community Center on August 24, 2024, from 3-5 p.m. The event will feature food, fun, music, pictures, and storytelling, honoring the joyous and impactful life Dee led. Friends, family, and those whose lives were touched by Dee are invited to join in remembering this extraordinary man.
