Deirdre Maguire Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 7, 2011.
EASTHAM – Deirdre E. Maguire, 53, passed away at her home on April 4th, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous 8 year battle against ovarian cancer. She was an inspiration to everyone around her, never giving in, or letting it get her down. She was determined to see her greatest joy in life, the birth of her first grandchild, Gianna, and to be there to experience her first precious moments. She leaves behind her husband John of 27 years. Born in Milford, MA on April 1, 1958 to Jeanne (Gray) and the late Nicholas Morelli.
Deirdre and her husband John moved to Eastham 23 years ago from Provincetown. While living on Cape Cod she took great joy in gardening, cooking, playing with her granddaughter, Gianna, and was a huge sports fan. She was co-owner of the Provincetown Fudge Factory, as well as enjoying other endeavors within her working career. Deirdre took most pride, though, as wife, mother, grandmother, and so many other roles she filled, and filled with love. She was approachable and outgoing, always enjoying meeting new people and going new places, and touched so many people in her venture of life. She will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
Besides her husband John, she is survived by her mother, Jeanne Morelli; daughter Nicole and her husband Robert; son Colin, and granddaughter Gianna; brothers, Michael and Edward; and sister, Jeanmarie.
The family wishes to give special thanks to the hospice caretakers who took such great care of Deirdre. Their support, compassion, and gentle presence in our home will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to: Visiting Nurses of Cape Cod, 434 Route 134, Suite D-3, South Dennis, MA 02660.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Rd., Orleans.

John:

My thoughts and prayers are with you, I am sure you still miss her. She was always a laugh every time we talked while she was taking a $20.00 out of the register to go buy scratch tickets.
I still say a prayer for the ones we have lost and still miss.

My best to you and your family!

When my cousin from Syracuse, N.Y. came to visit me, she was devistated that she had just been diagnosed with cancer. Dee took the time to come to my home and talk with her even though she had never met her before. I shall never forget that kind act of Dee's. We will miss her. We believe that she is at peace.

John, Nicole and Colin,
My deepest, deepest sympathies to you during this sad time. I remember fondly all of my years at the Fudge Shoppe--I will always remember Dee's laugh, her generosity and her patience with us as teenagers. She was a wonderful boss and role model. In my adult life it was always a pleasure to run into her in the grocery store and say hello. During the 8th grade fundraiser last year I was so touched and pleasantly surprised to find a note from Dee and some extra fudge in my son's bag! Each year I walk in the Relay For Life and I will now be dedicating my walk this year to Dee-- I will think of her with every lap and remember what a wonderful influence she was in my life. God Bless you Dee on your journey and may God watch over your family.
