Dee was a wonderful gentleman and always was willing to go the extra mile to help the programs and students he cared so much about. I was fortunate to have worked with him through the community college system and know how much his care and concern added to the colleges he served. Definitely a life well lived.

Rest in eternal peace LTC Boyer. Thank you for your service brother. We swapped many stories over the years regarding our airborne assignments. Your proud service as a warrior and as educator is only matched by your love and devotion to your family. Sleep easy brother.

I worked with De in the North Carolina Community Colleges . His dedication to his role and the lives he indirectly influenced was note able. He loved his boys and had so much respect for his beautiful wife. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I worked with Dee at the Dept. of Community Colleges for many years. We worked together through several administration changes, but we both survived! He was one of the nicest people I have ever met. He was hard working and dedicated and did his job well. It was my pleasure to have known him. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

Delane shared so many stories with me. He made sure I kept walking a path similar to his. He would always send emails, letters, and the occasional phone call. During one of his visits, he told me about that family I never knew and his house and grandparents- we terrorized the same creek and the same high school. Toksa Ake Tunkasila Delane, you inspire many.

It was a sad day when I learned of the passing of a longtime friend! Delane and I were in college at the same time, then when in the Army we both were assigned to the WWII Occupation Force in Austria. Met prior to shipping overseas when we shared quarters on the troop ship. Have been exceptionally proud of a lifetime association with a GREAT MAN! At the encouragement of has Maternal Grandmother he completed his education achieving many accomplishments, most worthy of emulation. Blessings to his family and may he rest in peace.

Leksi Delane became so important to our family. Growing up I only heard his name spoken when the family got together. When he came to the community not that many years ago, I finally was able to meet him. He looked just like my gramps, Bert Quiver, Stella's brother, so much so that it made me cry. We came to know him and grew very close. It was with pleasure that I was able to assist and do some ground work here at home for the writing of his book. I miss him greatly! A good man who lived a good life. My condolences to you all. Toksa ake

Dear Didi,
I am so sorry for your loss.
Dr. Boyer was like a father to me after I lost my parents in a vehicle accident in 2000. He will always be a hero to me and my sons. He lives on in us as I know he lives on in your sons and grandsons.
Please know you and your family are in my prayers.

Delane and Didi were our neighbors and friends here in Raleigh. He held a book signing and gave a talk about his book "Choice Made" for all of us who attended a neighborhood party, and my husband and I bought a copy of his book. It is a wonderful story of his life and of a lot of the travels he made as he lived. He deeply loved his wife, Didi, and he told us many wonderful stories about his sons and how proud he was of them. He was a fine man and he will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him. Bob and Karen Fletcher

In life there are events and people the impact and you like no others. I am so grateful to have crossed paths with Dee and to have had the opportunity to become his friend. Dee's dreams and ambitions crossed many barriers. In his life Dee lead by example, exploring the outer reaches of the reservation and beyond. His strong beliefs and dynamic personality opened doors that most would envy. His experiences and writings leaves us knowledge and perspective that cannot learned in institutions.
Dee's kindness has touched each member of my family, and we will miss him dearly. Until we meet again my Friend, Gods Speed.
