DELANO PAIGE Obituary
REVEREND DELANO
Peacefully, on June 22, 2012, Rev. Paige went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he served faithfully for 39 years. On November 3, 1936, God answered his mother's prayers that one of her children would preach the Gospel. Born on the day President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was re-elected for his second term, he was named Delano Roosevelt Paige. He graduated from Canonsburg H.S. in 1955 and matriculated to Geneva College and received his Bachelors from the University of Pittsburgh in 1987. In 1972, his call to the ministry was confirmed by Psalms 51:13 "Then will I teach transgressors Your way and sinners shall be converted to You.". In 1973 he was licensed and ordained to pastor the St. John Baptist Church in Lawrence, PA. He labored there successfully for two years and God blessed the fruit of his labors. His second pastoral ministry was at the Second Baptist Church in Beaver Falls, PA. He was installed into the pulpit of the Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in 1984. After 24 years, Pastor Paige transitioned from the pastorate on October 26, 2008. He served as President of the Eastern Region Progressive Baptist Convention, was a lifetime member of the NAACP and a Board Member of Naomi's Place Transitional Housing, Inc. Left to cherish his beautiful memory are his beloved wife Laura; children Delano R. Paige, Jr., Deborah Paige, Susan (Darrell) Adams, Paul (Charlette) Paige, Michelle Paige, Jason Bell, and Dr. Valerie Bell from Tavernier, Florida; and siblings Rose (Reginald) Tucker of Oakdale, PA, Dr. Kenneth (Lynn) Paige, Deloris (Millard) Moye of Washington, PA, Beverly (Carter) Campbell of Chicago, and Carolyn Paige of Michigan. Also left to celebrate his life are his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, many brothers, sisters and friends in the ministry and his mentee Raiqual. Visitation Monday 4-8 p.m. in the Macedonia Baptist Church, 2225 Bedford Ave., the Hill District, where Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Naomi's Place, 601 N. I had no idea that this guest book even existed, so although my comments are late, they are nevertheless from the heart. I am so very grateful for the religious upbringing I received under Rev. Paige's guidance. I still find myself reflecting on the sermons, the music and the memories from my years at Rodman. Rev. Paige was a great man and a great leader. I pray that he is resting peacefully.

Our deepest sympathy to you for the loss of your husband, father, grandpap, brother, uncle and cousin. Pastor was someone very special to our family and a lot of others. You've heard all the kind words spoken about him and we pray that you'll be comforted by them. More importantly, the many lives he's led to Christ speaks volume and I know God is pleased with his good and faithful servant. He's been there for us through EVERYTHING (marriage, funerals, baptisms, hospital visits, etc). Only God knows how he was able to be everywhere for so many people when we needed him. Rev. Paige was a tremendous teacher and preacher. He also loved his flock and cared deeply for the young people. I have been a member of Rodman since Pastor Bowick, but grew in the Lord and His Word under Pastor Paige from 8 yrs old on. Pastor baptized me and took interest in me and my sisters. Dear Mrs. Paige. When I think about Pastor Paige, I remember how often he visited the sick and comforted the bereaved. If he knew you were having surgery, he was right there before you went into the operating room. I was one of those who he laid hands on early in the morning at the hospital. Mr. Paige was a great man, he was a dear friend of my grandparents who went to his church for years, he remarried them on their 50th and married another one of family members. My prayers go out to his family in thier time of need. God Bless.

I truly loved and adored Pastor Paige at Rodman..he believed in me and always showed his kindnes to me and my children..He always treated the People of God with respect, love and dignity..I am who I am as a leader because of what you not only taught me, but what you modeled as a Pastor..I love you Rev Paige and I will miss you greatly on this side of heaven!
