Della Mae Bowar

Bowar, Della Mae aka Dellas (nee Garfoot) age 92, passed on to eternal rest July 19, 2011. Born March 27, 1919 in Cross Plains, WI. Preceded in death and now reunited with parents Charles and Mary (Dresen) Garfoot, siblings Roman and Laverne (Keegan), grandson Chris Brown, and loving husband Carlos Lawrence "Chip" Bowar. She is survived by children Eve Brown (R.J. Fastner), Carl, Joel, Gail Hyster (Larry), Kevin (Mary), and Evan (Coreen); by grandchildren Nick Brown (Julie), Luke, Jamie, Dietrich, Eva Branch (Jason), Hans, Emma, Lisa Bottolene (Scott), James Charlebois (Audra), Ben, & Evan Jr.; and 13 great- grandchildren. Dellas graduated from Middleton High School where she played trombone in the band. She received a BA in Education from The University of Wisconsin, Whitewater in 1940 and taught freshman English at Kiehl, WI high school. Married to Chip Feb. 14th, 1942 in Tacoma Washington, she started her greatest legacy as loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and volunteer. They moved to their home in St. Louis Park in 1952, and she has been a faithful member of Most Holy Trinity Church all these many years. She was one of the founding members of the MHT Rosary Society, and participated in many fund raising events for the church. She was head of Membership Records at AAA Minneapolis from 1974 to 1986. Dellas loved reading, and travel, was a great hostess and conversationalist, and a gourmet cook. She enjoyed playing bridge, plants and gardening, and fishing, but most of all spending time with her relatives and friends. She learned to use a computer at age 84, and continued to serve the less fortunate by helping them with Bingo and leading the Reminisce program at St. Therese in Hopkins. Dellas was always concerned about the wellbeing of others, and she never forgot birthdays and anniversaries. She lived her life with class and dignity in spite of adversity. She was an inspiration to all who knew her, and we will never forget her warmth, sense of humor, and the love she gave. Visitation Friday, 5-8 PM with 7 PM prayer service at Gearty-Delmore Park Chapel, 3960 Wooddale Ave South. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life Saturday, 11 AM at the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, 4017 Utica Ave. S., St. Louis Park, MN 55416. Private interment Ft. Snelling.
