Delores Scheel

Delores Scheel, 89, West Fargo, ND, died Monday, August 25, 2014, at Bethany on University in Fargo. She was baptized at home and confirmed in the Christian faith at Kongsvinger Lutheran church, rural Oslo, MN. Delores graduated from Alvarado High School. She worked at the Woolworth Store in Grand Forks. On October 16, 1946, she married her husband, Clarence Scheel. They were united in marriage until his death in 1989. Together they raised four children: Sandy, Rod, Susan, and Lori. Over the years, she was devoted to her family. Delores taught her four children in Sunday School. The family lived in Bemidji, MN. They were members of Bethel Lutheran Church. Delores assisted with release time classes at First Lutheran in Bemidji. The family moved to West Fargo in 1959. They were members of Faith Lutheran Church where Delores taught Sunday School and was a member of Mary Circle. She worked and encouraged reading books, Bible and Commentaries from the church library. Delores worked with the refugee program. She encouraged her four children and grandchildren in education and music. In the community, Delores was a representative on the Lutheran Social Services Auxiliary, New Life Center Auxiliary, YMCA Auxiliary, Camp Fire and a Hospice Volunteer. Delores enjoyed camping with her family, which included her grandchildren. She liked crafts, table games, handiwork, which included quilting at church and the ND Quilt Guild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Lydia Pederson, her husband, Clarence, and a son-in-law Lincoln Huseby. Survivors include her children: Sandy Huseby of Fargo, Rod (Jolene) Scheel of Fergus Falls, MN, Susan Scheel of West Fargo and Lori Scheel of Fargo; grandchildren: Dakota Huseby (Royce Vollmer), Morgan Huseby, Lindsey Scheel, Courtney Draxten (Luke), Jesse Scheel, Abby Crowser (Brandon), Lydia (Joe) Bruenjes, and Matt Stinar; great-grandchildren: Justice Vollmer, Lilly Vollmer, Drew Hazel Draxten, Lucky Jo Draxten, Emery Kaye Crowser, and Jack Michael Crowser; brother-in-law: Ray Brusegaard of Moorhead; a number of nieces and nephews. Visitation: Friday, August 29, 2014, from 5 to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND. Funeral: Saturday, August 30, 2014, 10 AM at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior.
