Delphine Rossmo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 28 to May 29, 2018.
Our Mom, Delphine Rossmo, died during a thunderstorm last Thursday night, May 24, 2018. Del was born in Cudworth, Sk on December 30, 1930. She was 87 glorious years old. Delphine is predeceased by her parents Estelle (nee Hanten) and John Monroe Wiebe, her sisters Shirley and Rona, her brothers Roy and Jack, and her beloved daughter Patti Barlas. Del is survived by her daughters Lana Rossmo (Lorne) and Lori Boley (Dennis) and her sons Rod (Wendy), Spencer (Laura) and Dean (Lori) and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was especially close to her niece Diane Wallbillig, special friends Nicole Irvine, Mary Ann Sinclaire and Louise Peters and her brother-in-law Ed Kurtenbach. John Rossmo rode his motorcycle from his home in Sutherland to Cudworth. Del could not resist his rakish charms. They wed on July 1st, 1950 and were married for 32 years before divorcing in 1982. Johnny and Del were a very affectionate and loving couple, but after 25 years of marriage they grew apart. After marriage mom devoted her compassionate heart to those struggling with alcohol addiction through Alcoholics Anonymous. The AA program and fellowship was a source of comfort and strength during the end of her marriage and many years after. Del was grateful for 42 years of sobriety and often expressed profound gratitude for her sponsors and what she learned from those she sponsored. Mom always told us that what she wanted to do as a young woman was be a wife and mother. She married at 19 (and 1/2 she insisted on saying) and by the age of 32 had a home filled with 6 children. We remember weekly homemade bread and buns, mercurochrome on skinned knees, hugs when feelings were hurt, new Easter outfits for church, homemade Halloween costumes. She always made our Christmas' so special that she could have taught Santa a thing or two. We were loved by both our

parents and loved well. Sadly, Del struggled with mental illness, as many do. The last two years of mom's life her perennial joy, sunny disposition, her silliness and light heart seemed weighed down.

The last few days of her life her children were by her side and she was visited by her her close friends and family. She died in our embrace knowing she was loved.

A celebration of life will be held at 11AM Wednesday May 30 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. East on 8th Street, first right past Briargate Road.

"Auntie Duckie" will always have a special place in our hearts (lots of great times spent at the Rossmo house, with all the kids ... she never seemed to worry that there would be one (or more) extras staying over. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all and we hope that the happy memories you have of your time together will help as you get through these next few days.

I am sending my love and prayers to you all. I am traveling in Spain and have not been checking Facebook hardly at all when I came across Angela's posting. I am so sad! I loved her very much and she was always so sweet to me and my family. The news has come as quite a shock. I know she will be in our hearts and her inspiration will live on. I return home on June 1st and will be in touch then. Sending love and prayers.

If roses grow in heaven, Lord please pick a bunch and place them in Del's arm. Tell her she is loved and missed and when she turns to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile. Because remembering her is easy, we will do it every day as there will always be a place for her within our hearts that will never go away.
Love to all the family.
