Jerry Kelp Obituary

Jerry G. Kelp, 84, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed away and went to be with his Maker at 3:38 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at his home with his family by his side.

Jerry was born in Brown county, Indiana on April 16, 1941, the sixth child born to Max and Iva (Dowell) Kelp. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Annie Marie (Branaman) Kelp on September 3, 2024.

Jerry retired from Cummins Engine Company after 31 years of service in April 1991. He was a faithful member of Calvary Community Church of the Nazarene. Jerry had a passion for caring for his family and cherished every minute with them. Some of his hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking and recreational boating.

Jerry will be remembered by his children, Brenda (Frank) Rodgers of Nashville, Randy (Penny) Kelp of Nashville, and Mike (Christi) Kelp of Seymour; grandchildren, Amber (Joshia) Graham, Jerry Rodgers, Jamie (Ron) Mathis, Ashley (Ryan) Leis, Emily Kelp, Travis Kelp, Tray (Alexis) Yates and Shelbie Browning; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Hedrick, Mary Smale and Judie Schroeder; brothers, Jim Kelp and John Kelp; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janet Mathis; and brothers, Don Kelp, Dallas Kelp and Allen Kelp.

The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, September 22, 2025, at Calvary Community Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Paul Blair officiating. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. until service time Monday.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Duncan Cemetery, he will be laid to rest next to his late wife.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Community Church of the Nazarene or to Duncan Cemetery Charitable Trust of Nashville.
