Demetrius C. Hewlin

Demetrius C. Hewlin age 16 of Chardon died Tuesday Feb 28, 2012 at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland. Born March 8, 1995 he lived in the Chardon area for the last 10 years. Demetrius was a junior at Chardon High School and affectionately known as "D" by his friends and family. He was very interested in healthy living and body building and worked out five days a week. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing computer games, reading books and stories online, listening to music, and donating his time at the Habitat for Humanity Resale Shop in Newbury. Demetrius is survived by his parents Phyllis (Tim) (nee: Carter) Ferguson of Chardon; Grandmother Percy (John Davis) Carter of Southington, OH; paternal grandmother Thomasina Hewlin of Washington DC; brother Philip (April) Carter of Warren; sister Hannah Ferguson (Mike Gattarello) of Middlefield; uncles Jeff (Kathy) Ferguson of Chardon and Leo (Ruby) Carter, Jr. of Houston, TX; aunts Cecelia L. Whitlow of Youngstown, OH and Renea J. Carter of Bryans Road, MD; nephews Philip Jr. and Dareian of Warren; cousins Andrea J. and Andrew J. Whitlow of Youngstown, OH; and biological father Tim Hewlin of Washington DC. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Leo Carter, Sr., grandparents Lester and Elizabeth Ferguson; and aunt Pamela Carter. Through this terrible event, Demetrius is helping better the lives of others by donating his organs to Lifebanc. The family would like to ask that all light a candle on March 8 to remember Demetrius. To accommodate all of the Hewlin Family guests, the Burr Funeral Home has secured the parking lot of the former Western Reserve Farm Coop located at 312 Park Ave. in Chardon between Tilden Ave. and the Park Ave. entrance to the Chardon Village Plaza. Also, the parking lot for Chardon Village Plaza(aka Marc's Plaza) located at 425 Park Ave. in Chardon between Park Ave and Water Street (across from McDonald's) has also been made available for parking. There will be transportation provided to and from both parking lots. The route for this will be: South from the Burr Funeral Home on South Street to Park Ave. The bus will head west on Park Ave stopping at the Western Reserve Farm Coop parking lot then continue west to the Chardon Village Plaza. The bus will move through the parking area at Chardon Village Plaza towards Water Street. The bus will then head east on Water Street and return to the Burr Funeral Home.
