Demi, your father came to my school today to give a speech on dating violence. I think his speech about you will stick with me forever, I have never seen someone so strong and determined for making a change. What happened to you was tragic and absolutely unfair, you seem like you were such a positive girl but without even knowing you have changed and saved so many lives by your story being known. Rest In Peace.

I didn't know Demi personally, I am guessing I was like many others who heard about it on the radio, in the newspaper, or on one of the news channels. Seeing as how I didn't know her personally and only heard about it through media, I am assuming not too many people will believe me when I dispense sympathy. Although, this should be recognized as a tragedy. A tragedy for the loss of a life, and the loss of a piece of others - including the family and friends she left behind. However, in the midst of this chaos, I believe many of us should find hope in this. Hope that Demi is not suffering, hope that she is looking at all of us and showing admiration for the way all of us show we care. I am sorry for your loss, I really am. But remember that all who are suffering have each other, so at least you are not alone. I am sincerely apologetic for your loss. I really hope this helped in some way.

We are filled with regrets, it was such a short time that we had you, but you know how much we loved you.

You were with us for a while, we so much miss your smile. There is pain within our hearts, you can see it in our eyes, there's a question as to why.

No matter the time that passes, we will still long for answers.

Dear Jodi, Jake and Saige,

My heart goes out to you all. The first time I saw Demi she was starting University Park Elementary school, two little pony tails, teary eyes and the biggest smile that melted our hearts. That is the memory I will always keep in my heart.

Jodi, hold on to all the good memories, bad memories, laughter, tears and most of all the love you and Demi shared.

May God keep you Jodi and your family in His arms, and never let you go.

TO THE FAMILY OF DEMI:

THERE IS NOTHING I, OR ANYONE ELSE CAN SAY TO YOU AT THIS TIME, THAT WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THE COURSE THAT YOUR LIFE WILL NOW TAKE. WHEN SOMEONE SAYS TO YOU 'I CAN'T IMAGINE', WHICH WILL BE SAID TO YOU EVERYDAY, THEY'RE ABOSUTELY RIGHT. THEY CANNOT IMAGINE. YOUR NOW A MEMBER OF A CLUB THAT NO ONE EVER WANTS TO JOIN, THE LOSS OF A CHILD.

I'M ALSO A MEMBER OF THIS CLUB, AND I CAN TRULY SAY THAT 'I CAN IMAGINE'. AS YOU GO ABOUT YOUR LIFE, IN SHOCK, FOR MANY MONTHS, I WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT I LOST MY 12 YEAR OLD SON TWO YEARS AGO, AND I KNOW ABOUT THE PAIN THAT COMES AND GOES IN YOUR HEART. IT IS GREATER THAN ANY PAIN YOU CAN EVER EXPERIENCE.
I NEVER THOUGHT THAT I WOULD MAKE IT PAST ONE DAY, ONE MONTH, ONE YEAR, AND NOW IT'S TWO YEARS, AND I CAN ONLY SAY THAT THE PAIN WILL NEVER GO AWAY, BUT OVER TIME IT WILL SOFTEN.
MY NAME IS BILL BENDEL, AND MY SON [JACOB WILLIAM BENDEL], HAS A GUEST BOOK ON THIS POST-GAZETTE SITE.I INVITE YOU TO SHARE MY THOUGHTS BY READING HIS GUEST BOOK, AND WHENEVER YOUR ABLE OR READY, PLEASE CONTACT ME, SO I CAN HELP YOU FIND SOME GOOD SUPPORT GROUPS OR TO JUST SHARE SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT OUR CHILDREN.
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME ANYTIME [[email protected]]
OR AT 412 973-9071.
IN THE MEANTIME, I'LL CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR YOUR FAMILY, AND I TRULY BELIEVE THAT I'LL SEE MY BOY AGAIN IN HEAVEN, I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A PEAK, BUT I GUESS THATS WHY THEY CALL IT FAITH.
YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME PERSON THAT YOU WERE. WHEN A THERAPIST TOLD ME THAT ON MY FIRST VISIT, I THOUGHT THEY WERE NUTS, BUT NOW I REALIZE WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL ! BILL BENDEL

To Demi's family: As someone who didn't know Demi or the family, words cannot express how sorry I was to hear of your loss. You can be comforted to know that their are so many people like me who are keeping all of you in our prayers. Dear Cuccia Family & Demi's Friends,
We did not know Demi, however my daughter is a young cheerleader and we are all very saddened by this tragic event. Demi was such a beautiful girl with so much to offer. As the days passed since August 15th, the constant glum and rain has made me realize the things the Sunday School teachers taught us were right, when it rains it's the angels crying. I don't think the angels are finished yet. What a horrible loss for your family. Please lean on friends and love ones at this time and let GOD carry you through this. The entire community is mourning with you.

A caring person. God Bless Demi's family.

August 22, 2007

Demi had a beautiful smile.
That streched for a mile.
We all know she loved to cheer.
We all miss her so dear.
I didn't know her like a sister.
We all wish we could be with her.
God took her for a reason.
Maybe we'll know by next season.
We don't why.
But she'll watch us as days go by.
Why she couldn't be with us today.
Is a mystery for another day.
We know she is safe.
Also in a better place.
God Bless Demi's family and friends.
God Bless us all until the end.

R.I.P. Demi, You are missed and loved. Forgotten by None. Only the GOOD die young. Love you and miss you.

To all of the Cuccia Family:
The news of Demi's death saddened me so...and I never knew her or her family. I cannot even imagine how heart-broken you all are.
This is such a tradegy for all families involved.
Demi was a very beautiful girl and from what her family and friends say, also beautiful in spirit.
I pray that you find comfort and strength in each other and that as the pain eases, that you realize we are the sad ones, the greiving ones. Demi is dancing (and cheering) in Heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ, who now holds her in the palm of His hand. And beleive that we will all see her again!
"God Grant her eternal rest and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, rest in peace. Amen.

Dear Jodi & Family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I too do not know you or your family yet have been so terribly saddened by this tragedy. I know in my heart that Demi is up in heaven. She truely seemed like a girl that any parent would be proud to have for a daughter. I have been praying for you and your family for days now and will continue to do so. Please look to the Lord for your strength and he will help you get through this.

A Monroeville Mom

August 21, 2007

As a parent in the Monroeville community, I was so saddened by this tragedy and could cry right along with you as I read and watch the news each day. I happened to drive by the church on Monday around 11:30am at which time there was one flash of lightning, one loud clap of thunder, and then the heavens opened up and the rain poured down. I thought of a country song called "Angel's Hands"; the chorus talks about how sometimes it must get so quiet in heaven when tragedies happen that "even God cries when an angel's hands are tied." Even though I didn't know Demi or her family, it gave new meaning to the song, and I thought the rain had to be God and the angel's crying at the loss of such a young, vibrant life. I pray for you and for her family that someone else's life can be saved because of what your daughter endured; that will be one way that her spirit and love can live on forever. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. May God bless all of you!

To the Cuccia family,
I am a Gateway graduate and the brother of Karen DeJeet. Her 21 year old daughter was killed in a car accident in February. It devastated the family and I dreaded the viewing that weekend. But the love and support of people actually turned the weekend into a celebration of her life. I got the feeling this was the case with Demi. Since I heard of this trajedy, a day hasn't gone by that I haven't felt incredible sadness for Jodi and the entire family. I know how hard it's been on my sister. Please know there are so many people here for you all. Although I never met Demi, by the outpouring of love and support, she must have been a remarkable person.

Dear Jodi, I don't know if you remember me. My name is Gina Keys(Andreaggi). My parents Louis and Maria Andreaggi were very close to your grandparents. Even though we are not blood related I always referred to your grandparents as Aunt Connie and Uncle Phil. Some of my fondest memories is when we were growing up and your grandparents had huge New Years Eve Parties at their house in Monroeville. Even though I have not seen or talked to you or Tammy for years, the loss of your daughter was deeply felt and I am very very sorry for your loss. I could not believe it when my Mom called and told me. Demi was absolutely beautiful and I can't imagine the pain you must be feeling. I truly believe with all my being that Demi is with God and she is at peace. My father just passed away recently and I know that they are together in Heaven with your Grandparents and with Gods grace when we all meet again we will have one the biggest parties together again. My cousin Victor Nardo told me the ceremony was absolutely beautiful, If there is absolutely anything we can do don't hesitate to ask.

Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Love Andreaggi Family

My deepest sympathy to the family of Demi Cuccia. I do not know Demi or her family, but I felt the need to send my sympathies. God knows the mission He has assigned every person on earth, and I can only assume Demi had completed her assignment. The way her beutiful life ended in unexplainable. The love that she showed everyone who knew her is repeated over and over again in tributes and messages. My prayers go out to Demi's family and friends and that the pain that you feel today will be replaced with wonderful memories. Demi is a part of the beautiful tapestry of your lives.
