Denis F. Marotzke

Denis F. Marotzke, 81, of West Fargo, ND, died Friday, October 7, 2016, at Sanford Health in Fargo. Denis Fritz Marotzke was born June 17, 1935 in Fargo, ND the son of Fritz and Laura (Kaizer) Marotzke. His family moved to Alice, ND when he was nine years old. Denis attended school in Alice, was an eagle scout and graduated from the Enderlin High School. He then worked for area farmers until his marriage to Beverly Heinz April 4, 1956 at Alice. The couple moved to California where he worked as a carpenter and off sale liquor. They moved to Walker, MN and operated a Souvenir Shop, then sold used and antique furniture in West Fargo. Denis then became employed at Leo Johnson Furniture Company. He worked at Valley Gun and later in the gun department at Scheel's. Denis was a salesman for KFGO radio and later KXJB television until retiring. He then assisted his wife in an off sale liquor business in West Fargo. The couple enjoyed their family cabin on Big Cormorant Lake swimming, fishing and jet boat rides with their children and grandchildren. Denis and Beverly later spent winters in Arizona where they enjoyed many hobbies, including forming and polishing stones for Bev to use in her silversmith class making them into jewelery, woodworking, and was a member of the Arizona cowboy fast draw club. Denis enjoyed horses, Indian motorcycles, leather tooling, whip cracking and played saxophone and guitar. Denis and Beverly were avid hunters with bow and rifle, He at one time held his private pilot license. Denis and Bev were instrumental in starting the Valley RC Flyers radio controlled airplane club. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife: Beverly of West Fargo; daughters: Roxy Ann (Troy) Furos of Fargo, Tamie Kostelecky (Arnie Peterson) of West Fargo and Denyse (Andy) Kuhn of Reiles Acres, ND; grandchildren: Teresa (Donny) Cossette, Chris (Sorina) Meyer, Paige Kostelecky, Jordan, Mason & Max Kuhn, Alan & Joey Peterson and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Service 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at West Funeral Home Chapel in West Fargo. Burial will be in the Alice Cemetery at Alice, ND West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center westfuneralhome.com
