I have such wonderful memories of this man. "Red" you gave so much and I will always remember that welcoming smile. The world is a better place because of you. My love goes out to your family. A Dad, a husband.......a friend. Rest in Peace.

Denis was quite the character in Brighton. A brilliant business man always met with a warm welcome and an open heart . Never forget him driving a snowmobile along Washington Street after a Northeaster. He was truly the personification of manhood.

Oh yes, it is so very sad to loose Denis. He was a very special man, adored his wife and family, loved his community and gave himself to the Minstrels (now Music with Heart). He was always making a joke and making people smile. We were so fortunate and will never forget all the magical Christmas sing-a-longs at his flower shop sprinkled with beautiful snowfall. He is now beaming next to his bride!

I would be remiss if I didn´t quote Denis´ favorite suggestion for obituaries as he regaled his customers:
"In lieu of flowers please send money to your local florist"
Brighton Center will miss you Denis. God Bless, or as your mother Mae always said:
"God love you"

The flowers from Minihane's were the very best!

When my daughter was married we went to Minihane's and met with Dennis who was so understanding to all of my daughter's ideas. I could tell from this meeting what a good man he was.

The flowers for the bridal party, church and reception were so beautiful!

My sympathy to Dennis's family.

Sincerely,
Pauline Donoghue

As a kid growing up in Brighton, I have such fond memories of Mr. Minihane. He was the most generous and kindest man to the neighborhood kids. He would always create beautiful arrangements to bring home to my mom in exchange for the few dollars I had. My friends and I remember these memories to this day. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in all of the wonderful memories people have of this great man. My sincere condolences to the Minihane family.

In 2001 Dennis Minihanes generously handed me the key to the exquisite glass nursery and said "Count me in", when I asked to have the newly founded Brighton Garden and Horticulture Society have its monthly meetings in his lush nursery. The club met in that wonderful space, hosting lectures on plants and gardening, as well as fund raisers and holiday parties. Dennis was a generous soul who frolicked in the love of plants, flowers and the community. In his honor the garden club had a wonderful painting made of his shop which he proudly hung. Dennis embraced life with a passion, and Brighton will forever be rich in having him so committed to the community. May his name be written in the "Book of Life".

Dennis, as a member of the Boston Minstrels outreach singers to shelters around Boston we will never forget you! The Johnie Cash songs you sang were right from the heart and you brighten up the lives of the homeless and your friends who sang along with you Dennis!
We will hold a song in our hearts for you as you sing with the angels !

May you rest in peace and fly high with the Angels my friend Denis! He was a great man and mentor to me and was my very first supporter of The Fishing Academy! This was one of his favorite stories! I was working for Denis back in 2002-2003 doing deliveries especially during the Christmas season. I was in a rut after jobs coaching at Bentley and Emerson College. Denis asked me to help setup a wedding in Nahant for Cindy´O Halloran, another friend of mine! I later learned that the wedding party got stuck in Nahant the entire night as the causeway was flooded out.

It was pouring buckets of rain and there was a flood emergency and Denis looked at me and belted out "John my boy, the show must go on" as we are hydroplaning down Storrow Drive, he asked me where I was looking to work next. That´s when I told him about my idea to start The Fishing Academy and Denis, always a great listener asked me a few questions about the idea. I also told him that some people said the idea was stupid as we approached the Nahant causeway. Denis told me to pull over put his hands on my shoulder´s and said it was a great idea, don´t listen to the naysayers, he then looked me right in the eyes and said " John if you don´t do it you´ll regret it forever! Denis 19 years later I have no regrets thanks to you my friend, May GodBless this great man I love you Denis and the Minihane family!

To the entire Minihane Family .. thanks for sharing your dad (and mom) with Allston/Brighton! Denis was a ray of sunshine ... with always an inspirational story pursed on his lips. I remember the first shop on Academy Hill Ave... then on to the bigger shop on Washington St .. and then the really big shop that I know was his pride and joy which was a beacon of happiness right in the middle of Brighton. I miss Denis. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers

Our sympathies to all his family & friends. He did the flowers for our daughters wedding in 1999. The flowers were amazing & he was so patient and helpful for a nervous young bride. A true gentleman in every way.
