Denis Mockenhaupt, 71, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 in Fort Wayne. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Denis worked as an Engineer with Magnovox/Raytheon for 48 years, retiring in April 2011 as a Program Manager. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and served as Chairman of its Buildings and Grounds Committee for 15 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11353. He was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Franciscan Sack Lunch Ministry, and Byron Health Center, and served on the Board of the St. Joseph's Community Health Foundation. Denis had the heart of a servant and "believed in the value of faith, family, and friends". Surviving are his spouse, Judy Mockenhaupt, sons Brian and Gregg (Stacy) Mockenhaupt, daughter Leah Kenna, grandchildren Olivia, Gar, and Vivienne, and brothers Richard (Roberta) Mockenhaupt and Paul (Connie) Mockenhaupt of Pittsburgh, PA. Denis was preceded in death by his father, Gregor Mockenhaupt, and mother, Mary (Shenot) Mockenhaupt. Mass of Christian Burial is 2:00 pm, with 1 hour calling prior, on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road with Msgr. John Kuzmich officiating. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road, on Friday, March 2, 2012, 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a Vigil service at 8:30 pm.
