Denis Pinard Sr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2025.
Denis Pinard, 73, of Naples, FL (and previously a proud New Englander from Goffstown, NH), passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. Born on April 21, 1951, he was the son of the late Rosaire and Helen (Martel) Pinard, and clearly inherited a love for adventure (and probably a stubborn streak too).

A proud Marine from the Third Recruit Battalion - Platoon 3010 at Parris Island in 1970, Denis didn't just serve his country, he served up plenty of good times to his family and friends. Whether it was telling stories or cracking jokes, he made sure everyone around him had a reason to smile.

Denis loved family - a lot - and his summers in Freedom, NH at Totem Pole Park were practically a local legend. Winters, however, were reserved for the warmth of Naples, FL, where he'd take his daily trips to Marco Island to the Speakeasy, no doubt making friends with everyone along the way. No one ever had more fun with less effort than Denis.

He is survived by his former wife, Norma Savage (who undoubtedly shared more than a few laughs with him over the years), his sons Denis (and his wife Melanie) and Brian (and his wife Kristen), his brother Lionel Pinard of Merrimack, NH, five grandchildren (Ryan, Justin, Kyle, Ashley, and Hunter), and a whole bunch of nieces and nephews who never left a family gathering without a smile. He was predeceased by his sister, Cecilia (Pinard) Desrosiers, who no doubt is having an equally wild time wherever she is.

Denis was known for his easy smile, his generosity, and his uncanny ability to make people laugh, even when it wasn't entirely appropriate. His sense of humor and zest for life made him more than just a friend - he was a father-figure, an uncle, a grandfather, and, let's face it, probably the funniest guy at the party. His presence will be missed by all who knew him, but his jokes will live on forever.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, May 8 from 2:30 - 6:30 at the American Legion - Henry J Sweeney Post, 251 Maple Street in Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers, Denis would have appreciated a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project (https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate), because, as we all know, he never did anything halfway - not even charity.

Denny was my first love and last, he gave above and beyond for our family. He knew how to love and honor all, unselfishly. He always stood by me during times of trials and tribulations during our Marriage, of 31 years. Even after, we were good witnesses to our beautiful Family, as friends and Parents and Grammie and Grampie.I know he will be missed by all of us, but for me I never stopped loving Denny, and never will. All my love Norma Lou, and as he always called me Norm, I miss you, we all miss you! Till we meet again, I must say I have been visited daily with Red Cardinals, which I believe are my visits from heaven. Rest, for you surely deserve Rest in Peace. Love Norma Lou.

Rest well, Denis. So sad to hear that the world has lost you.
Very grateful for the many times that our paths crossed over the years at Totem Pole. See you down the road.

It was an honor to know Denis and to share a laugh or two with him. The Florida weather amplified his constant grin to be sure. His chili was among the hottest that I have ever enjoyed. A fellow New Hampshire citizen, he was quick to offer a helping hand and a witty quip. May he rest in eternal peace.
