Dennis Anlauf Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2025.
Dennis Norman Anlauf passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday November 27, 2024. Dennis, or Denny as friends and family affectionately called him, was hard-working and kind. A quiet, good-humored man, he loved to playfully tease and joke. Dennis was born in Filer, Idaho on April 30, 1944, spending his knee scrapping years climbing barn rafters on his family's farm. He met his sweetie, Karen Robinson in Twin Falls, ID and they married on August 20, 1965. Dennis and Karen moved to Boise, ID in 1980 and continued to build on their beautiful life, raising their two daughters surrounded by a community of family and friends. Dennis worked for the United States Army Reserve for 30 years before retiring. He had a natural ability to build, repair and create, from solar panels to backyard fountains, Dennis kept busy. He was a mechanic by trade but also enjoyed building and fixing cars as a hobby. He took up wood working later in life, transforming part of his garage into a small workshop. Dennis loved the mountains and forests of Idaho and camping with his family was one of his favorite past times. Following the loss of his wife Karen after 42 years of marriage, Dennis met Carolyn Aguirre in the Miata club and they bonded over long drives in the Idaho countryside. Dennis and Carolyn split their time between Boise and their cabin outside Cascade, ID. They were loving companions until the end of his life. Dennis built a quiet and valuable life and his legacy lives on in his children and grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by those who shared memories with him and those who loved him. We miss you, Dad.

Dennis is survived by his wife Carolyn Aguirre, sister Beverly Anlauf, daughters Kara Anlauf-Dunn and her husband Chris Dunn, Dana Anlauf Miller and her husband Dustin Miller, and grandchildren Crosby, Jasper, Phineas and Lila. Dennis will be honored in a celebration of life at the Elks Lodge in Boise, Idaho on January 25, 2025. Please send prayers, hugs, or peaceful thoughts in lieu of flowers or donations can be to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) in his loving memory.
