Dennis Larry Bedford

Dennis Larry Bedford, 74, of Glendale, WI passed away on May 28, 2025. He was born in Starkville, MS on July 9, 1950, to the late Cleveland and Alice Bedford (née Roby.) The second of eight children, Dennis grew up in Kenosha, WI where his family were members of Coleman Chapel, A.M.E. Church. Dennis graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1973, where he was a charter member and dean of pledges for the Eta Pi "Fly" chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Dennis worked as a Social Worker for the Division of Children and Family Services for 20 years, after which he was designated the Youth Empowerment Director for Outreach and Schools by the Boys and Girls Club of Kenosha. Dennis was a mediator with the Kenosha Police Department, leading prevention groups in Kenosha schools. He retired In August 2017 but returned in February 2024 as a part-time employee. He was a faithful member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Milwaukee, WI for over 45 years, where he served as a Trustee.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Linda Bedford (née Bradford) of Glendale, WI; daughters, Dana Bedford of Glendale, WI, and Courtney Anderson (James) of Madison, WI; and grandsons, Davis Bedford and Ford Anderson. He also leaves behind brother, Craig Bedford (Maribeth), Brookfield, WI; and sisters Sharron Vines (Roederick), Stone Mountain, GA, Renee Wilcoxon, Conyers, GA, Trudy L. Bedford, Pheba, MS, and Crystal Bedford, Kenosha, WI. Dennis is preceded in death by parents Cleveland and Alice, brother Donald Bedford, and sister JoAnn Bedford. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles from the Bedford, Bradford, and Roby families.

Known to many as 'Mr. Dennis', he was a devoted mentor and advocate. His life speaks volumes of his dedicated service in the community.
