Arminta A. Fant

Arminta A. Hobson Fant, 90, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Her sun rose April 21, 1928, and her sun set Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018. She was born in Connellsville, a daughter to the late John and Mattie Smith Hobson. She then moved to Mt. Pleasant. She attended grade school and went to East Huntington High School and later went to Waddle High School, New York City. Arminta and her husband, Thomas Fant, owned the Riviera Hotel and Bar in Connellsville and worked there for many years until her husband passed away. Arminta moved to Mt. Pleasant and lived there for 20 years. She later worked at Albert Gallatin Hospice, Uniontown, for 10 years as a caregiver. Arminta was a member of Second Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. She loved crocheting and giving them to her friends and family and crossword puzzling. In addition to her late parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Fant; two sons, Vincent and Leslie; three brothers, Oscar, John and Elmer Hobson; two sisters, Pearl Wilson and Lela Harrison; and brother in-law Edward Harrison. She is survived by two sons, Oscar Heard (Emily), of Youngstown, Ohio, and Roger and Barbara Heard, of Mustang, Okla.; two sisters, Catherine Witherspoon, of Hempstead, N.Y., and Evelyn Ridgely, of Mt. Pleasant; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, 406 Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday with Reverends William and Barbara Terry and the Rev. Kevin Bundridge officiating. Interment will follow at Middle Presbyterian Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
