Dennis Walter Florkowski

Dennis Florkowski, a veteran, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home in Clyde, North Carolina, on May 21, 2025. He was 81 years old.

Dennis was born on September 24, 1943, to Walter and Charlotte Florkowski, and was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Pat Sobiechowski (the late Leonard), and his brother Richard Florkowski (the late Patricia). He is survived by his loving wife, June Florkowski; his brother, Michael Florkowski (the late Christine); his children, Jennifer Krahenbill (Brandon), Aaron Florkowski (Noelle), Paul Florkowski (Tammy), and Greg Florkowski (Kim); his grandchildren, Adam, Avery, Jesse, Eva, Milana, James, Gregory, Geoffrey, and Hailey; and his great-grandchildren, Aiden and Adler.

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Dennis served his country as a mechanic during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he went on to earn a degree from the University of Central Missouri. His professional life was marked by a distinguished career as a fuels and lubricants engineer, contributing his expertise to Ford, BP, and Chrysler over many decades.

Upon retiring, Dennis settled in the Smoky Mountains with June, where he enjoyed the serenity and beauty of Clyde, NC. He had a passion for many things-most notably, racing go-karts as a member of the Red Eye Racing Team, a love of speed and mechanics he passed down to his children. Dennis was also an antique enthusiast and spent hours browsing local shops in search of hidden treasures.

Dennis will be remembered for his quiet strength and the legacy of curiosity and craftsmanship he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

At Dennis's request, a service will not be held to honor his life. The family asks that you honor Dennis by cherishing time with your loved ones and pursuing your passions wholeheartedly.
