Dennis Armstead Jones

Dennis Armstead Jones, 94, died Sunday, July 26, 2008, in St. Simeons Episcopal Home in Tulsa.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the East Bartlesville Christian Church with Pastor David Mabon officiating. Interment will be in the Fairfax Cemetery in Fairfax at 2:30 p.m. Thursday under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home and Crematory.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established with the Abiding Memorial Fund at the East Bartlesville Christian Church, 3221 E. Tuxedo, Bartlesville, Okla. 74006 for those who wish to donate in his memory.Dennis Armstead Jones (affectionately known by his friends as Jonesy) was born on Sept. 4, 1913, in Morrison, the son of Charles C. and Minnie G. (Christie) Jones. He was raised on a farm near Morrison. He married Juanita Richards on Aug. 13, 1940. He served in the Glider Division of the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was stationed in the U.S. and Europe. He owned auto body and wheel alignment businesses in Fairfax and Cushing. In 1962, he came to Bartlesville where he owned ACME Body Shop until retiring in 1990. He was a member of the East Bartlesville Christian Church since 1965 where he served many years as an elder and in other leadership roles. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the sport with friends until age 90.Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; two daughters, Brenda George of Tulsa and Debra Flaum and her husband, Morris, of Belvedere, Calif.; two granddaughters, Reinie George of Dallas, Texas and Jessica Flaum of Belvedere.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.Dennis enjoyed a long life filled with family, church and friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
