In Loving Memory of Dennis Lee Lyle

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dennis Lee Lyle, who passed away on December 11, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on May 25, 1949, in Long Beach, California to Gilbert and Leona, Dennis lived a life rich in love, family, and curiosity, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Dennis spent his early childhood in Pollock Pines, California, and his teen and early adult years in Napa. After graduating from Napa High School in 1967, he began his 25-year career at the Department of Defense as a pipefitter, working on submarines at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo. He later settled in Vacaville, where he raised his family, and eventually retired in Rio Vista, a place he lovingly called home.

Dennis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn Lyle (Strotkamp), and his son, Laine Lyle. He is survived by his son Devin Lyle, his wife Sarah, and their two daughters, Mira and Audrey; his son Scott O'Donnell, his wife Vicki, and their three children, Evelyn, Jacob, and Benjamin; and his granddaughters from Laine: Alyssa, Carrie, Angela, and Brianna. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald Lyle and his wife Margaret, Daniel Lyle and his wife Lynn, Tom Neumann and his wife Ann, and Robert Neumann and his wife Laine.

In retirement, Dennis found joy in serving others, delivering medications for a local pharmacy and brightening the lives of those who were homebound. He spent his free time pursuing hobbies that reflected his adventurous and creative spirit. He loved backpacking through the redwoods, photographing the moon and local bridges and windmills, and building kayaks in his garage. His love of riding motorcycles and driving classic cars, especially Corvettes, was a lifelong passion, as was his interest in researching his family tree and preserving the stories of his family lineage.

Dennis will be remembered for his playful sense of humor, his curiosity, and his friendly smile, which he shared with everyone around him. His playful kindness that he brought to others will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Calvary Chapel Rio Vista, located at 401 Montezuma Street, beginning at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow, and the family invites all who knew Dennis to join them in honoring his memory.
