Dennis was my English teacher at Elisabeth Irwin High School in the early 1970's. He was a wonderful teacher: very encouraging of his students and started us writing journals which, as a young teen, helped me through a lot of teenage angst. I send condolences to his family. Remembering him put a smile on my face.

Dennis was the most important teacher--and adult--in my life. There is not enough space here to say how much he changed me in high school from an indifferent under-achiever. He made literature seem dazzling, because he was dazzled by it. He had intense humor and wasn't afraid of treating us as equals. I will never forget Dennis and the good fortune I had for the last 2 years of high school to have him as my most valued mentor. All love and blessings for his next journey.

Dennis was my 8th grade English teacher at Elisabeth Irwin HS. He pushed us to think deeply about our readings and engage in vigorous discussion about a rage of authors he brought to class. I still have some of those books. Sympathies to Aviva and family. Stacey Parkins Millett `73
