Dennis Scott Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jul. 12 to Jul. 14, 2023.
In loving memory of Dennis Edward Scott who passed away at the age of 80 on June 29, 2023 in Tulsa, OK after a battle with endocarditis. He was born on August 31, 1942, in Nyack, NY to Clarence and Elizabeth (Hansen) Scott.

After graduating from Nyack High School, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 and served 4 valiant years on the Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Independence during the Vietnam War. He was married to the love of his life, Alice Sweeney, on August 25, 1962. Last year they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in the Bahamas.

Dennis pursued a career in Engineering following his honorable discharge from the military. He was a Control Systems Engineer for Bechtel Power for over 30 years, where he designed Coal Fired Power Plants that were installed around the globe. He was a brilliant man with a vast and diverse knowledge on all things technical.

Dennis had a green thumb and was always tinkering in the yard. His and Alice's home were always surrounded by the most beautiful flowers and delicious home-grown vegetables. He loved to fish and passed his fishing passion on to his son and grandsons. Pappy / Pap, as he was known to his grandchildren, had an extensive model train collection. He spent untold hours creating elaborate train table designs to the joy and wonder of his grandchildren.

Dennis (aka Denesio Eduardo Scottoriccio) had a fantastic sense of humor, limited patience for incompetence, an undying hatred for telemarketers and most importantly, unlimited time and love for his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Dennis is survived by his beloved wife Alice Scott, who shared a lifetime of love and happiness with him, his two children Michael (Lori) Scott and Susan (Kevin Cowen) Scott, and his two grandchildren Zachary Scott (22) and Jonathon Chipman (13).

Dennis is also survived by his sisters Sharon (Robert) Scott, Linda (Gaetano) Herrera and brother Clarence (Margaret) Scott, Jr., as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Elizabeth Scott and sister Margaret Connors.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on July 29, 2023 at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville, Arkansas from 12:00-3:00pm. This gathering will serve as an opportunity for family, friends and loved ones to come together, share stories, and celebrate the life of Dennis Scott. Dennis Scott

Oh, I am so sad to hear this. Dennis and Alice were our neighbors in Lewistown. We were a young married couple and we couldn't have asked for better neighbors. Dennis and Alice were, indeed, meticulous in the care of their gardens and were always willing to lend a hand or give advise when asked. I have very fond memories of Dennis and I know he will be sorely missed. Sending love and prayers to the Scott family.

My deepest sympathy. Good man. No nonsence. And funny too. Scouts. Little league. LYAA. And more. My sincere condolences to the Scott family.

My sincere condolences to the family. I was fortunate to know this very smart and whitty character of a man from elementary school, church, and high school, and later as he and Alice introduced me to their new home in Arkansas. He so valued humor and intelligent thinking and could always be counted on to lead some clever prank. To observe the love between Alice and Dennis warmed my heart. This was a good man. I will always miss you old friend.

My condolences to the family. Dennis was one of my first supervisors and he was a good leader and teacher. He was tough, but fair, and he never settled for second best. He was considered as being one of the best Control Engineers in the office. He will be missed, but never forgotten. funeral.
