My sincere condolences to family and friends. I had the honour to work with Dennis when he served in Angola as a Military observer. I had ended my military service in the Angolan Army myself. He was actually the person responsible for to join UNAVEM. He worked at MOVCON Logistics, I took over from him when he went back to Canada. I have a lot to thank him, and I do it now to you all. May his soul rest in peace. Courage and strength to you. Sincerely, Luis Berenguel

To the family and friend a Dennis. In 2002 i was deployed to Angola as a civilian contractor. This was my first expeeiwnce overseas and i was, to say the least, a little nervous.

I was met at the airport in Luanda by an impressive looking Canadian Major we all affectionately referred to Dennie. Dennis wore his uniform with pride and made me proud of the men that Canada has representing us overseas.

Although, 2 missions and more than 4 months in Angola was the entire time I knew him, he had left a lifelong impression on me. The pride he showed in serving ignited a pride in me for the red and white maple leaf.

Dennie was our unofficial logistics officer in Angola, and noone since my own mother ever took better care of me. His pride in having a canadian crew building accomodations for this important mission made him take us under his wing.

I am honoured to have known him...and a better person for it. He was a true canadian hero.

To the family of Dennis, I was deeply saddened to hear of Dennis's passing. It has been years since I last saw Dennis , but we were neighbors and good friends the years before he entered the military . I remember a close group of friends of his and I tried to talk him out of going into the military as we would miss him and would not keep in touch but he had his mind made up and promised to write as often as he could,he kept his word and for the first year we were so excited when one of us would get a letter from him as they were all about what he was experiencing, he was very young and far from home. The years went by and we lost touch but I met a young man that had just started where I was working and he had been stationed where I last hear Dennis was so I asked if he knew a private Strilchuk and he said you mean Major Stilchuk, I don't know why but I was smiling and I felt so proud of him , he had done what he said he was going to even if his friends didn't support his decision. I hope you are ok with me sharing a memory with you and I would sincerely want to say that Dennis was a great person and that I wont forget his friendship and sense of humour and I am happy to have had him as a friend. May he rest in peace.

I met Dennis while we were in Grant MacEwan doing our Social Work program. We were both retired military and often shared stories. I'll miss him and remember him fondly.

I am saddened to hear this news. I met Dennis during his time as a base counsellor, and I worked at a medical facility that he would often refer clients to. In time I considered him a friend...and even flew into Edmonton to visit. His sense of humor was second to none and thank you Dennis, I am better for knowing you.

Nancy and I were deeply saddened to learn of Dennis' passing. From our time together on our Arty Offr Ph II course to our time in 3 RCHA, 1 RCHA and the many course we attended, I will never forget His friendship, twisted sense of humor and enthusiasm. He was someone who always had your back, and I am proud to have had the privilege of serving with him. RIP old friend.

I am saddened to hear of Dennis's death. I worked with him in 3 RCHA and again in 1 RCHA. He was fun and spirited, and always caring and compassionate. I learned an awful lot from him, and had many laughs with him. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. I am so thankful that Mike Mussolum facilitated a lovely lunch with him and Dennis at The Olive Garden in Edmonton several years ago, and I have this time as a lasting memory of my friend Dennis. As they say in the Artillery world, Stand Easy.
