Derek "DB" Betz Obituary
Derek "DB" Betz, 35, of Greenock, passed away tragically on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. He was born February 13, 1983 in Pittsburgh and was the son of Sharon Betzner of Mississippi and Paul (JoAnn Politano) Betz of Elizabeth Township. Derek worked as a machinist for Vista Metals and loved his two precious fur babies, CiCi the cat and Maggie the dog. In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by a sister, Kaylee (Luis) Eveler of Louisiana, brother, Joshua P. Betz of Elizabeth Township, girlfriend, Jessica M. Hunter of Greenock, nephews, Kain, Jordyn and Christian Eveler, and niece Brooklyn Eveler. There is no visitation and services will be private. Arrangements are by the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township, (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. "Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through to let us know they have found peace." I am lucky to call Derek my buddy since Kindergarten. We went to school, rode the bus together and sat near each other in homeroom in middle school and high school because our last names both started with B. He was easy to love, always had a smile on his face and was consistently trying to make other people smile. The world is a lesser place without him. My deepest condolences to all who loved him. Rest Easy DB.

I'll never forget the lil Derek I knew and babysat as a child...always sweet with a heart of gold. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this horrifically hard time. It's never easy losing a loved one and the pain lasts forever. Always remember the good memories.
