Dear Emery's,
I will never forget playing soccer with devin. He always told me to keep my chin up when we were fighting a losing battle in soccer and I will always remember him. I know if we could hear Devin now he'd tell us all to "keep our chin up." You guys will always be in our prayers.

Devin was a unique and lovable person. Nobody made me laugh more than Devin. I will miss the good times we had our senior year together in choir. But those memories will last a lifetime. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Emery family. Let the good times we all shared with Devin heal the wounds of his tragic loss.
God Bless,

To know someone you have known for a good portion of your life is gone is a great loss. I have known Devin for a long time and have seen him grow from youth to adulthood. Devin was a warm person whom I always felt comfortable talking to, and would sporadically meet every now and then, and the conversations we had seemed to not want to end. The warmth Devin gave will greatly be missed.

You are loved so greatly, and will be missed just as much.
Emerys,

To the family of Devin Emery:
I too, as many of the others that have signed this guestbook had been given the chance to get to know Devin. It's been a while since we've talked, but the times that we did were always great. He did have the power of putting a smile on everyone's face, whether it was making a joke or just saying something totally unexpected. I once received a Christmas card from him that had no words on it, but had the picture of a penguin that had slipped on a banana and fell. Out to the side he had written "Ha Ha, looked like something you would have done, have a great Christmas love Devin!" This card wouldn't have meant anything to me from anyone but him. It was his unique ways of making me laugh. It was an honor to have met and got to know him. I'm truly sorry for your loss. I was given this following poem when I lost my g-ma. It really means well and I felt like it was my duty to share it with you. If you could hear what everyone was saying up there this is what it would be.
One Brief Moment
"A brief moment of darkness was all that I knew, before Heaven's Gate came into my view. Loved ones and friends I had missed for many years, welcomed me with open arms and many happy tears. All the hurt, fear, and pain that I have ever known, is gone from my life, I am finally home. I gazed upon the Lord's sweet smiling face, and for the first time in my life I knew and felt his grace. I know that you miss me, but please dry your eyes. I will always be watching and loving you from my home in the sky. A cool breeze on your face, a touch of light rain, I will send as a reminder that we will be reunited again. Life on earth is but one brief moment in time, I am finally home, Eternity is mine."
My prayers are with you all. We love you Devin!!! Love always, Niki Copeland

To the Emery Family,
I was a very good friend to Devin,he was a very great guy and my very first crush in Middle School. He was so much fun to be around. After Middle School we didn't see eachother because he went to different schools and so did I. But I kept him in my heart and cared for him a lot. First time I ever saw him again was band camp and was too shy to say anything to him, but he was a great guy to come up to me and see how I was doing and to see if I was enjoying the camp. Before he died, I would always see him and his family at the Dillons I worked at and would always say hi to him or his dad. The day that he died he was at Dillons and I wish so much that I could rewind back time just to say to him that I cared and that I missed talking to him, but now its always going to break my heart because I didn't get a chance to talk to him one last time. My love goes out to you (the family) and I am so sorry for your loss.

Joe, Ricki, and Kelsey,
I met Devon and Kelsey when I moved into the neighborhood on the East Side of town and soon found out that their mom was a teacher at Maize, When I was a 7th grader I moved to the West Side where Devon went to school along with Kelsey. I would just like to say I am extremly saddened by what has happened. It is so suprising when God has picked his next Angel to watch over his people. My love and praise is with you in this difficult time.
God Bless,

I will miss Devin more and more each day. I don't think that it has really hit all of us yet. It will take some time for us to all get through this. I keep going through all the times we spent together for the past six years and there isn't one time that I have a bad memory of Devin and that just tells you what kind of person he is. This summer is going to be hard without him going camping with all of us. I will miss him so much!
Mr. & Mrs. Emery and Kelsey I am so sorry for this and you are in my thoughts and prayers every minute!

Joe & Ricki,
I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers. It's always a terrible thing to lose a young life, but remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. Remember those moments and take comfort in their happiness.
Love to you both,

My continued prayers go out to the Emery Family. You should know Devin touched many lives. After meeting Devin at K-State, I had a new friend who could only be described as crazy, hilarious, extremely energetic, and liked. After spending more time with him, I discovered a kind, light-hearted, friendly, and caring individual who tried every chance he got to make others feel good about themselves. I can honestly say on behalf of me and countless other friends of Devin's at Kstate, that we will never get together again without thinking of
him and smiling from a memory.

We are the poems of our Lord and Savior for which we flow from place to place on earth. Everyday, the Lord adds another stanza to our lives that makes his beauty of words in us more and more special. One day, the Lord will look upon each and every one of us and see that his beauty on earth can no longer be perfected, and takes his poem up to be with him. Devin led a wonderful poetic life here on earth for us to share and remember him with- and what a beautiful poem he was.

Devin will be greatly missed. I will never meet anyone else like Devin, he was so unique in his own way. Especially his voice,You would just know when Devin walked in the room. It just had a certain sound to it.It's a voice I will NEVER EVER forget. One day will not go by that I will not think of him. I miss you ! ! !

Devin had the greatest presence. Any time you were out, you would hear that loud voice from across the room and know that it was him. He was the kind of person that just made you smile. He was amazing and will be deeply missed.

Dear Joe, Ricki, and Kelsey,
I am so sorry to hear about Devin. I had heard about the accident on Monday but didn't realize it was Devin until today. Devin was always a joy to be around during church. I know that Jeremy especially liked Devin and enjoyed hanging out with him during youth group. He was such a wonderful young man. He will be deeply missed by all. Our thoughts are with you.

Joe, Ricki, and Kelsey,
We were saddened to learn of Devin's death. I had just had a thought about him a few days earlier. I remembered how he was playing out in our driveway and there was a big puddle at the end. He jumped RIGHT into it and proceeded to tell Melanie how FUN it was. I think she followed suit. They were both muddy messes! I am glad we had time with all of you on Crestway Street. You will be in our prayers at this difficult time. God bless you and hold you close. Love from all the Hickerson's

Dear Friends,
We were so saddened to hear of Devin's accident. We will always remember the first time Devin came to our house to play with Marcus. Within an hour our complete garage was empty after he played with every ball, hockey stick, bat etc. He was quite a kid and we loved him. He always has had a special place in our hearts.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who will miss him greatly.
