DeVon Iverson returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, October 19, 2002 after a courageous fight with cancer.
He was born in Kanosh, Utah on Oct. 28, 1924 to Hyrum and Ruby Iverson. He married Betty Hammond on September 15, 1945. Their marriage was later solemnized for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He proudly served his country in the South Pacific in World War II, where he received the Purple Heart for bravery in combat from injuries sustained on Guam, Marshall Islands. DeVon is survived by his wife Betty, three children Tom Iverson (West Jordan); Scott Iverson (Tooele); and Pat Madsen (Tooele); seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; four brothers Newell Iverson, Wells Iverson, Wendell (Eda) Iverson, Kay (Denza) Iverson, and one sister Darlene Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Hilda Harrop, Norma Lee, and two great- grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tooele Sixth Ward Chapel, 253 South 200 East, Tooele, Utah. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. on the day of the services.
