Diana Cameron Obituary

Diana M. Cameron (Pretzer)- Age 65- Proud and Doting Mother

Diana passed away peacefully on a sunny afternoon August 23, 2012, at Surrey Memorial Hospital in Surrey, BC. All her girls were at her side.

She had lived with Cancer for a little over three years, and that was only part of her story. The better part of her story was mothering five children!

She was born October 17, 1946, in Moose Jaw, SK to Daniel William Pretzer (d.1991), and Dorothy Berna Pretzer (Collins)(d.1989). Two older protective brothers, Lawrence (Pud) Pretzer (d.2009), of Moose Jaw SK, and Donald (Donny) Pretzer, of Port Coquitlam, BC.

Diana married Duncan Cameron on March 20, 1965. They later divorced in 1990. She enjoyed being married and raising a family in Moose Jaw. She made many friends there and it was a sad day when the family moved to Edmonton, AB in 1981.

Life in Edmonton brought many a good time and many a bad time. This is where Diana spent most of her years working a nightshift job, never remarried, and remained committed to raising her girls into young adulthood. Even though she was too young at the time, she welcomed her first two grandsons. She always stayed true to herself and her goals. A very loyal and committed mother. She even managed to buy herself a car and a home.

In the Spring of 2008, she moved to Surrey, BC to retire and live with her daughters Marjie and Tracy, son-in-law Roland, and her two youngest grandchildren, as the third wasn't quite here yet.

Mother will be greatly missed by her five daughters Kelly, Marjie, Tracy, Holly and Carly; her five wonderful grandkids Andrew, Brian, Julian, Zoe and Stefan; her sons-in- law, Ken, Roland, Darcy and Tim; her brother Donny, her many girlfriends, her cousins, all her nieces and nephews, and their growing families, and all her in-laws (she quite enjoyed making memories with them)!

It is worth mentioning the number of extras that were attracted to her. Well over a dozen honorary sons and daughters! She was one to enjoy all the added company.

Diana wasn't just a mom. She was a sister, a daughter, even a great wife. She was a great friend. An Aunt. She was really funny. She liked Elvis so much her girls thought he was their dad. She liked to dance. She sewed a few dozen or two dance outfits, kids clothes, and Halloween costumes throughout her life. Diana was a natural teacher with a tolerance level better than most. She was the best storyteller. A wonderful artist. She was compassionate, patient and kind.

Diana would suggest we all spend time listening to our children, to allow them to finish their stories, go and bake a cake, meet with a friend for a coffee, tell a story, be nice to one another and get along.

A special thank you for all the beautiful flowers sent to the house, the abundance of food delivered by friends, the never ending flow of love and support from friends and family. Diana was treated very special by all her doctors and the nursing staff at Surrey Memorial Hospital. Wait until you hear that story!

A gathering of friends and family at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa in Moose Jaw on October 6th, 2012 will be held by her girls in honor of their Mother!

Please accept our heartfelt sympathy at this time of great loss. Hearing of Diana's passing brings back many fond memories of her growing up, but especially of her love of music and how she excelled at dancing. She was such a positive and happy person to be around. She will be sadly missed.

When it seems like this Circle Of Life thing keeps knocking our family down, I can be proud of the fact that even in the worst of times the Pretzer strength stays with us all. Be strong girls, remember the good times, I know I do!”

Thinking of you and wishing we could make it easier for you. We really enjoyed our visits with Diana. I'll always remember the last time we saw Diana and how Wendy and I had her laughing with our stories. What a great time. Love you.

Wishing you Carly, and all your sisters, strength and courage at this time. Losing a parent is not an easy road to endure. But keeping all your memories alive by sharing them with your friends and loved ones will surely make you feel a little better. Thinking of you...

I find it very hard to type through the tears but I can't tell you how thrilled we are that we chose to come out this summer. Spending four priceless hours with you all, reliving old times good and not so good. I am in awe of the strength your mom showed that day, while not feeling well at all, sitting and visiting as long as she did. I will never forget it.
You girls are a testament that she was a great mom and the tribute you just gave her proves that. She will be missed.
See you on the 6th
