I worked evenings with Diane back in the late 60's at Unity Hospital in San Francisco. As my supervisor, Diane relieved me for a break one evening. On returning to my floor, I remarked that I had met a nice guy, the hospital pharmacist . The following evening, Diane rushed onto my floor insisting i go to coffee immediately. And there again was that neat fellow, Jeff. Jeff and I eventually married (Diane attended our wedding). We are celebrating our 50th anniversary this year. Diane took an interest in us and we are so grateful for having such a sweet matchmaker. Edie and Jeff Wong

I worked with Nurse Di for several years. Always quick-witted and “to-the-point”, Diane never missed a beat. She loved all her ‘patients‘ but wasn’t crazy about all the data management her myriad of mandated tasks entailed. She just wanted to help people, not grapple with a computer. Underneath a sometimes gruff demeanor, was a pure heart of gold—a real ‘softy’. At any given moment, you could find her collecting clothing for the needy in shelters and the homeless on the street. At any given time you could find her doing thoughtful deeds for ANYONE. Diane was always there to lend a hand, advise, or counsel. She also shared her personal experiences and ‘ratings’ of countless San Francisco restaurants. If you wanted great food, just ask Diane. Diane was also devoted to her personal family. She watched over her Mom diligently. As Mom aged, Diane’s concern grew. Diane enlisted my help to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to her mother, which I did for a length of time—as a result of Diane’s caring. After Diane retired, I remember walking down the hall past her office, thinking that surely a light had gone out—but NOT just the one on the ceiling.
