Diane Wright Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 28, 2025.
G. Diane Wright (née Smith) passed away on September 28 at home surrounded by her family following a lung cancer diagnosis. She was born in Spokane, Washington, on December 19, 1962. As an adult, she relocated to Portland, Oregon, where she lived until her death. Diane was passionate about crochet and began a crochet group in the Gresham area. Every year, she crocheted Christmas-themed hats for her grandchildren, husband, and herself, and maintained an annual tradition of fun Christmas family photos with the hats until her death. Family was incredibly important to Diane, and she completed in-depth genealogical research for her own family and gave her time to help others. She volunteered for various historical and genealogical societies, doing data entry projects. Diane loved her dogs and was an ardent supporter of animal rescue organizations. She was funny, kind, accepting, and strong. Those closest to her knew that no matter what, she would be there to support them. Diane is survived by her husband, James Wright, her daughter Lisa, son-in-law Kyle, grandchildren Kaden and Lily, siblings Gwen, Gail, and Randy, along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Omega Funeral Home in Portland on October 11 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Diane's name to Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals.

My little sister, we weren´t raised in the same house but I loved when you, Gail and Randy would come to the farm to stay with us in the summer. You all followed me everywhere I went. You all were so cute. I wish we´d have grown up closer. It didn´t lesson my love for you. I was finally a big sister even if it was only on weekends and a few weeks in the summer. One of my most treasured possessions is the absolutely gorgeous quilt you crocheted for me. No one but me get to use it! I love it so much. I will miss you. I will miss the sharing of photos of your grandkids and you pups. RIP little sister.

I will miss Diane very much. I loved going out with her. We share the same grandchildren and would always brag to each other about them and the special times we had with them. She was a wonderful woman very smart and kind. We will all miss her special gifts she made for us. Also thoughtful and unexpected gifts mostly related to our family. I am thankful that I got a chance to spend time with her. I will miss her!!
Thank You for Sharing her,
Grandma Jeri

Dear Lisa and family, I am beyond sorry for your loss. Your mom was a beautiful women and such a loyal friend to my mom. It was clear her love was endless for you, her grandchildren and her pups. May her legacy live on through all the things she truly enjoyed doing. With love - Sydney

Diane was such a special friend of over 30 years. We went on so many fun adventures. We laughed and did fun crafts thanks to her great ideas. She loved her family and her beloved chihuahuas. I will miss her very much
