Dianne Coddington

Dianne Virginia Coddington, age 81, of Lenexa, Kansas, died at home on April 2, 2013. Dianne battled leukemia during her final year. She was born in Kansas City, MO in 1931. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Marcia and Hal A. Stonebraker. Dianne is survived by her sister, Jolene Jolliff of Santa Barbara, CA and her brother, Brent Stonebraker of Homedale, ID and their families. Her 3 children, Robin, Erin and Gil will miss her dearly. Dianne attended The University of Kansas, School of Journalism from 1950-53. She joined Alpha Delta Pi, served as President of the sorority her senior year and organized a well-attended 50th Anniversary for her pledge class in 1999. She remained an avid and loyal Jayhawk fan throughout her life. She loved watching all sports especially the Jayhawks, the Royals and professional tennis and golf. Her career began in 1968 as the Medical Staff Librarian at Baptist Memorial Hospital and culminated as Medical Writer for Marion Laboratories before retiring in 1989. She was a true Anglophile, loving all things British. She took several trips to England including a visit to her families' ancestral castle, Beaumaris in North Wales. In 1996 she attended a two-week architectural class at Oxford University. Dianne loved books and founded a Library/Book Exchange located at Four Colonies in Lenexa named in her honor. During her last months, Dianne compiled a list of "Things She Will Not Miss In This Life" which included: TV commercials, cell phone mania, Big Bigger and Super Big applied to everything, endless campaign cycles, shallow talk & thought, and lack of morals & civility in our society. And junk mail. A private entombment will take place at the Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A Memorial British High Tea will take place in the upcoming months.
