Dianne Roussel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 4, 2025.
Auburn- Dianne (Jenkins) Roussel, 79, passed away December 20, 2024 at MMC Portland, Maine

Dianne was born second of three children to Kenneth and Marguerite Jenkins.

She was educated in Portland schools having graduated Deering High School in 1963 and continuing her education at

Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. Then marrying Charlie Roussel, the father of their three children Benjamin, Stephanie and Jonathan.

Dianne made her career of 42 years as a successful Pediatric RN at Maine Medical Center. There she was affectionately known as

Disey. She was appreciated by the staff patients and their families. She was a trusted and much loved mentor, confidant, coworker, and friend. Retiring in 2008.

Dianne was an avid reader, with rows of books and loved to garden. Purple irises were her favorite along with peonies and her treasured Mother Wu' . She was interested in geology and loved to collect rocks (friends, family, and coworkers would bring them to her from all over the world )

Dianne enjoyed going to BeechRidge, Oxford and Mainly Carting where she had watched three generations plus race their cars and go karts most recently her grandson Beck. Finding the coolest new trinkets for her Lil Fox Charlie. She loved going to Howells for Kadans monthly shooting lessons and Dairy Queen, she had to have that small hot fudge sundae with extra fudge. Couldn't forget that extra fudge.

Painting was another love of hers, although I'm not sure she really got much on the canvas as she did on her sweatshirts, which she lived in. We all knew purple was her favorite color though ! She loved watching football, and an avid Survivor fanatic as well as listening to music from the 60s.

Photography though was her passion. You'd never see her without her camera in one hand and a Dunkin Pumpkin coffee in the other. And her iPad in her bag.. she spent countless hours at Walmart photo like it was her second home , printing off pictures for friends and family.

She loved spending time with her best friends, Bernie Ray whom she traveled to China and Nepal with and it was one of her most cherished memories and Pat Stanley as well as Jenny Girl with their weekly luncheons. Susan Wernig and Patty Murphy were 2 more well loved friends .

She loved her nightly talks with Joseph Bayley, with whom she coined JoJo. Disey is missed by many and will always be remembered her by members of the monthly Breakfast Club.

Dianne always put everybody above herself. It was her nature and she sacrificed so much to do all she could for her three children. She was a true angel to everyone's life she entered.

Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Marguerite Jenkins , her two brothers Kenneth and Steven Jenkins as well as her ex-husband Charlie Roussel.

Surviving are her son, Benjamin Roussel and his domestic partner, Nicole Gauthier, daughter, Stephanie Roussel and husband Heath Bayley, and son Jonathan Roussel and wife, Carrie Roussel as well as Kelly Roussel whom she helped raise.

I loved working beside Disey, learned and laughed with her. She was always ready to come `to camp“ in Rangeley bringing a lagsagna and pictures to share. She had random facts about most anything. Diseys insatiable curiosity and huge heart are what I will remember most. She is and will be forever missed and held dear in our hearts!!
